  1. Nothing. I didn't complete my sentence in what I was going to say.
  2. I'm not sure how that would weed out sloppy readers but it will definitely cause their transmitting audio be clipped and have missing syllables. There is nothing wrong with narrowbanding and I support it and my Part 90 license requires the freqs to be narrowband.
  3. Yes, in some parts of the modulation It definitely would cause a lot of missed syllables from the clipping of the transmitted audio.
  4. I believe there may be a CB Radio that has PL capability now to join in on the joy.
  5. You have the W/N setting wrong. It should be set for Narrowband. The Sun City West 625 repeater is a narrowband operating repeater and the DPL Tone polarity is Normal which you have correct.
  6. Here are the radios I own: Motorola Portables - HT1000, MT2000, MTS2000, VISAR, ASTRO SABER, XTS1500, XTS2500, XTS5000, and DTR700. Motorola Mobiles - MCS2000, XTL2500, and XTL5000 Kenwood Mobile - TK880-1 Midland Mobile - MXT500 I doubt that any of these radios can be programmed with Chirp. I know there are a few Kenwoods that can be programmed with Chirp but I don't think the TK880s can be.
  7. I would never own a radio that is programmed by Chirp.
  8. I think who ever wrote the Chirp program made it way too complicated. The program should have been better written and easier for the beginning radio enthusiasts. All they need to do is just have a pull down menu to select for each tone. Chirp is stupid.
  9. What do you set for split tones?
  10. CE27 USA version may be a DOS application. CE8 may be what you need.
  11. Hey, Jeffrey, you only had your license for three days and have posted 5 times to this forum and you are already acting like a "Sad HAM" and you definitely don't have any respect for the Queen. The Queen is not any type of an antenna sucker. Maybe Amateur Radio is your best suit and the crowd you should be hanging with because GMRS is for the cool people. If you think GMRS is for emergencies and the SHTF scenarios you will be in for a rude awakening during those situations when you can't communicate with anyone except God even with a fully or discharged battery. Oh, there is another "Sad HAM" on this forum that may be somebody you probably would get along with real well, his forum user name has something to do with Danish Marbles.

    GRMS Needed?

    And glamping.
  13. And lay off the intoxicating substances. It's not healthy.
  14. My take is Randy really doesn't endorse or promote any product. I think he tries to be objective as much as possible and just report the facts in a short amount of time. Yes, his videos may be leaving some facts out but if the videos were any longer most of you wouldn't have the attention span to endure a longer video.
  15. Is anything manufactured in the US these days except for some, not many, Goodyear Tires and Mickey Thompson Baja Bosses, and some off-road parts and accessories for Jeeps?
  16. One of the Clubs, I am a member of has an Emergency Services Group Team that provides services during community events such as marathons. We also are required to have the FEMA NIMs training certificates. The Group holds training classes and exercises every quarter and are prepared to provide emergency response to serve the community with emergency communications if necessary to relay information to the first responders in case of a catastrophic failure of the emergency reporting system infrastructure.
  17. From where are you trying to hit these two sites?
  18. Hobby = an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure. If a person's activity is not a career, profession, or business activity, mostly likely playing with radios is a hobby unless you are a coach potato playing video games and using illegal narcotics.
  19. Sounds like the Midland MXT26 is a better performing antenna than that other antenna.
  20. And the only forum with a genuine GMRS Queen that will be straight with the facts and no smelly brown stuff.
  21. There some Commercial radio shops that rent various equipment such as portable repeaters but not GMRS repeaters. Although, you could rent a commercial UHF repeater package and have a GMRS channel pair programmed and the duplexer tuned accordingly.
  22. The radio clubs I am a member of are 503 C something Non-Profit Orgs and cannot make a profit.
  23. Hmm, did the "Sad HAM" shoes fit?
  24. And that is another reason why Clubs have membership dues to cover those expenses for having a repeater at a remote site and pay the American Towers of the world for the space and services for housing the repeater at their sites. A couple of my GMRS Club's have repeaters at commercial remote sites and have to pay monthly lease payments for the space and services.
  25. I believe most people that comment on HAM are fully aware of the subject hobby. The commenter's are not ignorant. "Some People" that are HAMs are the cause to why various comments are made about "some" HAM hobbyist but not all HAM hobbyists. Just the other day, I observed the rudeness and the responses of a few HAMs that responded to a question asked by a new person trying to learn radio and they were not willing to help this new person. The new person was asking for help regarding the power connection and wirings of a vintage discontinued mobile radio. They could have easily help but they choose to be rude and not willing to help. Maybe these HAMs were just being lazy, or want to be rude which may be their normal demeanor, or maybe they are ignorant on the subject. This is an example of what "Sad Hams" are. Their comments/responses were not appropriate and I'm sure not appreciated by this new person. If they were ignorant then they should not have responded in the manor they did or not respond at all. No, they choose to take the "Sad HAM" approach. Again, not all HAM hobbyist have this poor attitude but if the shoes fit, wear them with your "Sad HAM" pride.
