Thanks for all the info. I was thinking internet linking was the way to go. Did anyone have luck linking repeaters over inter over many states rather easily? I know its still a herculean task.

Hello all. New to gmrs myself and was wondering what was the best and most cost effective way to link a few repeaters to each other over a few states. Wanna do a couple in nj, one in myrtle beach and maybe a few in Florida. Any ideas?

I'm also looking to link a couple of repeaters together but also not spend a ton on the repeaters as well and saw this thread. looking for ideas for the project.

Today I was driving through Franklin Lakes NJ, when I drive I usually leave my 935g+ on scan because it's cool to pick up conversations. As I was driving I picked up channel 20 with what at first I thought was a conversation but I realized it sounded more like a radio show. It was a guy talking about New years eve in NYC and then it switched to a woman talking about something else. Im not sure if this is a common thing, maybe its interference or some dude listening to the radio with ptt held down.
i heard it as well

Typically, the higher you go into the atmosphere, the colder it gets. However, a rapid influx of high pressure can cause a temperature inversion. This pushes a layer of warmer air up into the troposphere. These rapid transitions will typically occur in Spring and Fall when there are very rapid temperature changes during sun rise and sunset. While it occurs in the Spring, it's most prevalent in Fall.
cool thank you. new to the gmrs thing so im trying to learn all that i can.

It sounds like its tuned just fine, and I wouldn't mess with it .. But how you actually tune it depends on what kind of antenna it is.
It's a Nagoya NMO-200c 38.5" antenna on a Nagoya RB-50 NMO mount.

I have an antenna tuning question. I'm tuning my antenna for my radio, on channels 1-8 the meter is reading 1.02. On channel 15 its reading at 1.52. The repeater channel swr is reading at 2.02. Whats the best way for me to tune my antenna?
