I thing I bought the 450-512 but I'm not positive (I bought 2 for just over 20 bucks so ill be happy with either!) I have recently programmed a couple Motorola cp200 radios so I have a bit of experience, but I have never programmed or used a digital radio.

Just picked my first digital radio vertex evx-534 does anyone know a good source for the programing software Can I get this from Motorola solutions?

I set the DPL on a couple handhelds: I set 3 different dpl tones all to gmrs channel 16 what I found was the radios I had set to CSQ could receive the different DPL variations it just talk to the DPL programed radio so it seems like the DPL tone just makes you radio picky on what it will listen to? doesn't seem very private just a way to filter out other radio users unless I'm getting this wrong.

what is the difference between dpl and tpl? I've set tpl to talk to local repeaters but I'm not familiar with dpl as I was programming my radio I had 3 option TPL, DPL and CSQ

thanks everyone. I got all 3 of my cp200's up and running, programed to the gmrs frequencies that I want and also to a couple local repeaters, it ended up being a great learning experience and now I have the software all set up and ready to go!

a few minutes later my account with MOL was created and I can download the cps software every time I try to run it and read the radio it says it say "cannot create unknown radio component"

I just used your link and applied for an MOL account, we'll see...

thanks for the info. I spoke with Motorola and they said they no longer have software for these radios, I'm going to search the web for the software you mentioned and see what I can find: and yes I could have done more research before buying these radios however I am not worried about it, I'm just getting into this radio thing and soaking up what I can, there is always a learning curve. despite being very old these seem like very well built radios and still have aftermarket parts readily available, the software is is the only stumbling block so far.

I just bought my first real gmrs radios; a few old beat up Motorola CP200's (upgrade from Baofeng starter) does anyone know were to get the software and what the difficulty is on programing these?
