  1. I have done a search before, but I prefer just opening the map on this site, zooming in to my "area" and looking at repeaters around me. I look at the green halo range and if it's close enough I enter the tones for the repeaters and try them. That's just my prefered method. Also I do this for travel. If I know I am going on a trip and plan my route, I look at repeaters along that route and get them programmed.
  2. I will say since the storms, I have seen a lot of new people in the GMRS areas of social media I follow. This seem like an amazing time to grow and help these new people getting into the hobby. I would say, like me, the new crowd found myGMRS and are just going through requesting all the repaters close to them no realizing they don't have do all the requests unless they are labeled "request permission". SO, if any of our new GMRS people see this post is a repeater is listed as "Open" you are free to use that repeater without permissions. If it labled "Request permission", then please do so. I hope the new influx of users enjoy the hobby and stick with it.
  3. @GMRSJohn Truth in that statement. I have a 3 hobbies, so I have to not stir the pot to much. Jeep, Radios, and guns. And all 3 are kinda pricey. opps.
  4. I have several emergency frequencies programmed in my 935 so I can stay posted on things in my area already. I also have a "scanner" app on my work phone.
  5. Same, If I had the money I have a radio garage. Lol
  6. I learned to work my way around the Map on this site and find the repeaters close enough to me that I could hit and programmed those tones. I have learned and grown slowly and by asking questions. Glad to help if I can. I use the KG 935t myself and enjoy that radio.
  7. The DPL just means digital, So what you want is that D265N for your tone. And that was a good question. Feel free to ask anything.
  8. Thank you! I will look at it this evening.
  9. @marcspaz I am new to the video editing and took the time to make one on CapCut, but when I went to download it said I didn't have enough space to do it. It wanted me to pay.... So, I have not gotten a full video done yet. Not sure I want to pay for editing yet. If that makes sense.
  10. Had a great time at Beasley Knob OHV. Tough trails that keep you on your toes. Glad to get another BOH done.
  11. I actually wish there was more general chat going on. It is usually quiet in my area but sometimes, the channels get going. I enjoy it. Just got my friend on GMRS, so my activity should become more. We also use the radios for off roading.
  12. Yes and Yes, I only need about 6 more mounts. lol I agree, these are great mounts and I have had no issues in 2 years with phones. I will put the iPad mount to use this weekend in Ga.
  13. Here is my In Jeep set up. 2 phone holders with and iPad holder for OnX Off-roading app all on dash. Overhead molle panel with Wouxun KG20t radio and my aux panel. Also a pouch for Hand held radio when trailing.
  14. Heck yeah! So glad you have gotten to do that traveling. Enjoy the trails! Would be cool seeing you at Uwharrie but in a couple weeks me and some friends are doing Beasley Knob. Uwharrie a few weeks later, more than likely.

  16. You showoff you, lol. I am on 3.5" with 37's. I know, I know, I wish I was 4.5" with 40's.
  17. Yes, I would like to see it. We also will be headed back to Uwharrie in October. We didn't get to Dickey Bell when we were up earlier this year, it was closed.
  18. You are correct sir, September. I am just excited to go. lol
  19. Me and some buddies are planning to do Beasley Know the weekend of the 20th (this month). Trying to find a good camping spot near there now.
  20. That's one way to take on that V notch. They need to work on that thing, it's getting rough. Is it what caused the fender damage?
  21. I have a Wouxun 935G plus. I owned a couple buy one get one GMRS radios from Amazon and they worked. I learned from using them. But I wanted more and something that was known for being a good product. Done a lot of reviewing and research, then landed on my radio. I love it. It works very well for an HT.
  22. I got you. You have different saved files and you just "load" the trip you want. Good idea.
  23. Anyone have or run the Melowave Overlander ANM-123G? I am looking to get a Wouxun radio for my Jeep and want to run the antenna on the rear where I had my CB antenna. Also when running GMRS antennas, do they need to be grounded to the Jeep like the CB antenna. Sorry if that's a dumb question, relatively new to GMRS world.
