  1. I believe it was a 462 channel. I could hear them for quite a while.
  2. My wife and I did a trip to Komiefornia a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, from South East Arizona to Northern Komiefornia. I had my DB-20G on scan most of the trip, and only heard some people wheeling outside of Mohave on Hwy 58. My CB did pick up a driver going East from Barstow warning about a car going 5 mph going west into Barstow. It was great having a heads up. We came up on a truck that rearended the car flipped it over, and the truck jacked knife into the center dived.
  3. Oh, and congratulations on the new Jeep.
  4. Obviously your not new to GMRS. The Midlands are great radios. My only issue with the MXT275 is having to go into the menu to the repeater channels. I now have the DB-20G in both of my personal vehicles.
  5. I'm going to second the Radioddity GM-30. Just lock it on the channel you prefer, and hand them out.
  6. I would like to suggest the Radioddity GM-30 HT's. Fairly cheap, and lockable keypads. Very simple and easy to use.
  7. I actually searched this yesterday. It's 16 gauge I believe. I bought a second one to replace my MXT275 in my truck, and I plan to power it straight to the battery.
  8. Well I'm one of those people who are bad with technology. I have 2 UV-5R's in my jeep that I set the channel and then lock the key pad to hand to other people. I'm in the process of removing my MXT275 from my truck and installing a new DB-20 G.
  9. Why not a Radioddity db20 g? Probably $30 less than the Retevis.
  10. I usually have my radio on scan while driving around. I usually pick up schools and hotels around my area. Some construction flaggers once in awhile.
  11. I have my ghost antenna about 6 inches in front of my third brake light on the roof of my truck. We mostly travel around Arizona South East and to Sonoma County, California. I was considering getting a MXT26 antenna for traveling, but we rarely travel with others. It sounds like the ghost antenna should be adequate for my needs. Thanks for this post.
  12. Check out the repeater map and then contact the owners of the ones you want to use.
  13. I have the ghost antenna on a lip mount on the cowl of the TJR. It's perfect for the trails. I also have one on the driver's side rear door on my truck using a Nagoya lip mount and the ghost antenna works well there as also.
  14. And a good bourbon
  15. I haven't been on the forum for a few, and this topic is interesting, to say the least.
