  1. Abbree AR 771 GMRS antenna has been working great for me both GMRS and Ham frequencies Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I just exported the repeater list for california "chirp" and imported it in chirp i noticed that alot of repeaters have the "s" skip function on them are these repeaters not working? or permission only? was wondering why they had the "s" function see attached
  3. While I Know this is a GMRS forum just wanted to get some feedback on 2m vs 70 bands. Im Doing a mass export of all the repeaters within a 100 miles off repeater book and was wondering what the mass consensus on exporting via 2m or 70cm? Seems like 2m is better for simplex than 70 where 70cm signals tend to penetrate buildings better than 2m. I guess both have its pros and cons just wanted to see what most are using these days.
  4. I’m sorry to bother but what do you mean by switching talk groups and everyone listening to the repeater is taken to the same talk group ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That’s awesome to know thank you for your help and looking into it. I’m going it reprogram my ht today. I’m really surprised how unused DMR is I’ll have someone chime in time from time but that’s about it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. You need to pay in order to use it from what I can tell you can sign up for a free trial and then after 45 days you would need to to pay a yearly fee see link below http:// https://papasys.com/join/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yes it is part of the Redlands PAPA System at least from what i see,
  8. Yes the repeater im trying to connect to AI6BX which is part of the PAPA System which you need to pay for to use apparently. On repeater book it shows it as an open repeater but when you click the link to their site you would nee dto join the papa system which is a downer
  9. Yep defiantly hitting it, didnt know it was a paid repeater so will need to see if its worth the yearly price.
  10. AHHH AI6BX is the repeater im trying to use. Repeater book shows it as open so I didnt realize i needed to pay for use. That would explain why im not hearing anything.
  11. I think my problem is I’m too far from the closest dmr repeater to me. I’m going to drive closer and see if that helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. So I received my radio on Saturday and yes it’s a lot took me the whole day to figure it out but I have it set up now and have a somewhat good understanding of how to program it. You definitely need a hotspot to connect to the internet to use talk groups. I am just barely close enough to a repeater but the socal and California talk groups are pretty much dead. Someone will chime in every now and then but that’s about it. Gonna play with it some more today and see if maybe I’m doing something wrong Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I’m in the fence on this one while I do have uv9g gmrs radios I’ve been thinking of just going with either a Anytone atd878uvll plus it’s has dual band cause if and when the shtf I want to be able to communicate on both gmrs and ham frequencies I do plan to get a ham license but that all get thrown out the door in an emergency. I do play by the rules but it doesn’t make sense to carry around 2 radios when one can do it all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah I'm new to this and didn't know repeaters were linked via the internet. So question because this is what I'm concerned about so when the internet goes down basically were all going to be stuck on simplex or the area one repeater may cover because they will not be linked?
