just thought but it makes more since to my brain if the different classes of ham radio were actually general, technician, extra. where you learn about general ham radio first then you get technical then last of all you learn about the extra stuff. Just a thought.
All I can say is I have learned a lot from him and I think his videos are great. Just like with Ham Radio Crash Course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve triple checked all the tones. I now get what sounds like the repeater responding. I’ll transmit them when I release the ptt button my receive light comes on and there is a brief sound like someone keys up for a second then release the button without saying anything. Maybe progress
That just might be a good idea for me to do. Now can you wave your magic wand for your favorite viewer and get my current uv-9g to reach the repeater that is about 20 miles away with current set up please?
I forget that iPhones store pictures differently than other phones. Not sure who makes the antenna that is attached to the radio, there is a bnc-sfma adaptor between radio and antenna fyi.
there about 20 miles away. But every time I've tried I get dead air. Then next thing I know, people are talking. It got what ever antenna it came with. It's not the rubber duck.

That’s awesome. I don’t live close enough to any published repeaters to hit them with my ht radio. I can talk to my boys on there bf-888s radios when I’m close to home
If I’m trying to program this repeater into my radio. Do I need to worry about fusion or is that just saying that you can use fusion to connect to that repeater as well
Im referring to a radio you can buy say at Walmart or the baofeng bf-888s to be more precise. I bought 2 of the baofeng bf-888s for my boys to use and thought it would be nice to be able to use the 5rm plus to talk to them along with my two other radios that will. I'n ok if it won't. I do have other radios that do. And I know I will add more radios to my stash that won't be baofeng. They were an affordable entry into amateur and gmrs radio.
Is there anyway that the uv5rm plus can be "jailbroken" to allow you to actually talk to people on walkie talkies like you can with the uv5r? Ive programed all the correct frequencies and any tones needed, copied what is programmed in my uv5r and it doesn't work. I like the I can listen airband but I want to be able to talk to my boys walkie talkies as well. Maybe I ask too much from Baofeng. Or in general
