  1. just thought but it makes more since to my brain if the different classes of ham radio were actually general, technician, extra. where you learn about general ham radio first then you get technical then last of all you learn about the extra stuff. Just a thought.
  2. Perhaps. It is an IPhone after all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Image didn’t come through [emoji3525] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’m going to make sure my Roger beep is on so maybe people will actually talk to when I use my radio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. And please make sure I can add that to my radios when you have it working Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. All I can say is I have learned a lot from him and I think his videos are great. Just like with Ham Radio Crash Course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I almost got connectors that look just like that but sma to bnc on both. I just liked the black ones from signal stuff more.
  8. I can hear people on the repeater no problem
  9. I think I actually have success. I can key up the repeater with one radio and hear it with another radio close to me
  10. I’ve triple checked all the tones. I now get what sounds like the repeater responding. I’ll transmit them when I release the ptt button my receive light comes on and there is a brief sound like someone keys up for a second then release the button without saying anything. Maybe progress
  11. That response was meant as a humorous answer to his simple no. Based on his videos on YouTube
  12. Thanks for not waisting any of my “valuable time” with letting my down easy by going into a lengthy explanation as to why you can’t.
  13. That just might be a good idea for me to do. Now can you wave your magic wand for your favorite viewer and get my current uv-9g to reach the repeater that is about 20 miles away with current set up please?
  14. I forget that iPhones store pictures differently than other phones. Not sure who makes the antenna that is attached to the radio, there is a bnc-sfma adaptor between radio and antenna fyi.
  15. This is what I meant to put in message, sorry
  16. there about 20 miles away. But every time I've tried I get dead air. Then next thing I know, people are talking. It got what ever antenna it came with. It's not the rubber duck. IMG_0019.HEIC
  17. That’s awesome. I don’t live close enough to any published repeaters to hit them with my ht radio. I can talk to my boys on there bf-888s radios when I’m close to home
  18. If I’m trying to program this repeater into my radio. Do I need to worry about fusion or is that just saying that you can use fusion to connect to that repeater as well
  19. Thanks for helping your favorite viewer.
  20. Im referring to a radio you can buy say at Walmart or the baofeng bf-888s to be more precise. I bought 2 of the baofeng bf-888s for my boys to use and thought it would be nice to be able to use the 5rm plus to talk to them along with my two other radios that will. I'n ok if it won't. I do have other radios that do. And I know I will add more radios to my stash that won't be baofeng. They were an affordable entry into amateur and gmrs radio.
  21. Oh well. I may still keep it and just get another one to add to the collection
  22. Is there anyway that the uv5rm plus can be "jailbroken" to allow you to actually talk to people on walkie talkies like you can with the uv5r? Ive programed all the correct frequencies and any tones needed, copied what is programmed in my uv5r and it doesn't work. I like the I can listen airband but I want to be able to talk to my boys walkie talkies as well. Maybe I ask too much from Baofeng. Or in general
  23. I added an sma to bnc connector my radios to help save the life of the threads for the antenna Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
