  1. Have you asked the radio what gender it identifies as? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for all the help. As stated by some, the repeater is too far from my house to reach with my current setup of ht radios. But I can hear it just fine because it’s pushing signal far enough. Now I just need to find a close repeater to me that I can use. This has been a learning experience for sure. Now I also have to get use to using my uv5rm plus
  3. Im sure it a repeater output. tone scan show same as MyGMRS webpage and app show for my area. Ill just enjoy listening to it and try to reach repeater when I'm in San Antonio
  4. I got tone scan to work. I think my ht might be to far from repeater.
  5. I’m rocking a uv5r and uv9g I’m within 30 miles or so
  6. Figured out how to tone scan. Now I have the correct tone. Thanks. I could be to far
  7. Ti e for google search
  8. This is from my GMRS directly. I could very well to far for the repeater to pick me up. I’m still trying to learn about repeaters
  9. How do you tone scan?
  10. The repeater shows to have a 30 mile range. I pulled the info for from MyGMRS. And I’m using the pre programmed GMRS repeater channel in my radio
  11. I’ve been trying to connect to a repeater that I pick up. But can’t seem to connect. It’s on 462.625 and according to MyGMRS it input and output is 100.0Hz. So I set r-cycs and t-ctcs to 100.0Hz offset is +5.000. What else might I be doing wrong. I can hear people talking
  12. interesting that chirp won't let you remove the offset. I have never seen that before. I have to ask and I'm going to assume the answer is yes but, after you make changes when using chirp do you select upload to radio so that the changes get copied over to the radio?
  13. thank you for all the help and options. now I have to decide which one. Im guessing that the one that is mounted on the back door doesn't allow rain to get into the truck.
  14. I don't own the truck. It's a company owned truck, so what ever I do would have to be somewhat easy to remove. I also don't much room under the covered parking where I park it. I was thinking about some kind of stake hole mount or something that clamps to the bed or hood of the truck.
  15. I have a feeling this is like asking what is the best handgun for self defense, but I'm looking to put an antenna on my work truck somewhere, not sure where exactly. And I'm looking for suggestions on what would be a good antenna and antenna mount. it will be on an 2017 Dodge 2500. Since it's a work truck I don't want to drill any holes in it. thanks for any help.
  16. this is where chirp can help. I had an issue trying to get my gmrs radio to talk to my boys rms radio. I used chirp to download the programing from both radios then just made sure my gmrs radio had the correct frequencies and any other things like tones programed in. that worked once my mrs radio was in channel mode. I hope this helps
  17. After reading all these post, Im starting to miss my Cobra 29 radio. I even had fun with the PA function on it. I need to get a cb radio. I will get one that has the PA function on it for sure. Its easier for other drivers to hear you telling what the did wrong and how stupid it was with the PA then just me yelling
  18. Take it all the way to extra. Just passed my extra exam. It feels good to completely finish something.
  19. thanks for identifying the frequency by the way. I've got it set correctly now in my radio.
  20. Im learning the ends and outs of chirp and it is my new preferred way to program my radios. Just need a better antenna for the radio and one day a better radio. All in good time
  21. The antennas came with the radios. They are on the list of upgrades as well
  22. I feel way overdone by everyone here. I just rock the Baofeng UV-9G for all my GMRS and there UV-5R for all my Ham use. One day soon I will upgrade both HT's as well as put a base station in my house and set up a mobile option in my work truck.
  23. I switched frequency to 462.625 and all better. Thanks again for all the help. One day I'll be able to help new people as I learn more.
  24. I get people from canyon lake, San Antonio, and live oak area on that frequency
  25. ill try this. Im in a little town called bulverde. north of San Antonio
