  1. @Socalgmrs thank you for your quick response. So this UHF repeater is not legal to use in the US per FCC correct?
  2. Folks, I finally creaed a simple base station with my GMRS radios, thank you for all your advices. After reasearching further, I noticed that this Retevis RB91 that comes with its own 2 way radio enhances the distance for the hand helds without the need of a GMRS base station more on a private level. Is this repeater legal here in the US? Does FCC allow the use of this repeater with our GMRS licenses?
  3. I am new to GMRS. I recently set up a GMRS antenna/using a BAOFENG GMRS 9R 5watt as the base station radio. I am able to hit the repeater of choice lout & clear at transmitting & receiving with this radio. But when I take my other GMRS 9R over a mile in the area of choice not getting reception. Is it because I am just using a 5watt ratio vs. a 20 watt with the antenna. Will the 20 watt reach me?
  4. @WRYZ926I appreciate your feedback sir.
  5. @WRYZ926, interesting set up. Thank for your feedback
  6. Very nice set up sir. I like it! Based on your GEOGRAPHICAL circumstance. I am new to all these, so this is a very pro active feedback! Will definitely help me if I face your same geographic circumstance. Since in my case, I am here now, but I may be there later when sheets hit the fan.
  7. @SteveShannon, thank you so much for that observation sir. I will get that corrected. In regards to the repeater? I need something that has range and can set up on the go. It's why I set up the antenna that way, and for storms for quick take down.
  8. @SteveShannon, sorry. Just saw this message. I finally got around setting up the temporary base station. Please refer to the youtube links provided here. Welcome your feedback on it. I am eventually planning on using a repeater like the RT97 in place. For now it seems I have something that works after testing. Temporary Anttenna set up: Temporary base station set up:
  9. Got it Mr. Steve. Sorry to bother sir. Much appreciated
  10. Thank you all for your input on this. At this time I am breaking my head on getting the correct cables or adaptors in amazon. Please help guys. I am sorry, but I am new to this and I need to set up my base station. On the antenna end seems to be a male N connector. See picture
  11. Folks, I bought this antenna to set up a base station at my place. I have it on a pole & needed the coaxil cable to connect to it. It seems I bought the incorrect cable. The cables I bought where PL-259 UHF CB Coach cable 15ft, RG58 PL-259 UHF Male to Female. I aso bouth the following adapters: PL259 Male to UHF Female Right Angle Adapter. UHF Male to SO239 Female L Shape 90 degree RF Coach Connector CB Radio. See pictures. What are the appropriate coaxil cables/adapters I need to order for this antenna. Anybody knows?

  14. Folks, inccidentally. I noticed that these radios come with the Chirp USB cable. I dowloaded the software to my windows OS but I don't see the model# for my radio on the options to dowload the radio. Checked the manual it came with and now information. I am trying to program it with CHIRP. Any ideas or resources on the Baofeng GMRS 9R that I like a lot? @BoxCar, @SteveShannon @pl4tinum
  15. @pl4tinum much appreciated sir. Semper Paratus!
