  1. My record with them is bought 5 sent 4 back for no output. The one working one is awesome though haha
  2. Well shucks that is the first I have heard of the battery situation. Thank you for that. I ever buy another TDH three which is highly unlikely. I’ll keep that in mind very good heads up.
  3. Don’t feel stupid. Ask your questions. There’s a great group of people here that are willing to help. A lot of this isn’t common sense knowledge and alot of the info online is hard to navigate for a newcomer.
  4. How about duplex? Will it let you set duplex to off ? my bad I just seen you were talking about in VFO mode. So disregard my post !
  5. I get people telling me the same thing from time to time. With no mic gain you just need to talk softer or further away. A good habit is to never use more power than you absolutely need! Use low power for all wheeling situations. When I use my kg1000+ people say I sound over modulated but when my family talks on the same radio to me I think they all sound fantastic which makes me wonder if some types of voices don’t do well on the kg1000+.
  6. Agreed, and I could replace a pl259 in the field with a soldering iron and a sharp knife. I personally could not do that with an N type.
  7. I’d still prefer a good ol’ pl259 connector myself. And just replace it at 3 year intervals. The 259’s hold up for years and years on some of the toughest heavy equipment in horrid conditions and transmit cb just fine.
  8. I haven’t successfully been able to change any privacy tones in channel mode on a uv5g pro. Hella frustrating. My uv5g’s won’t save anything I set into them from the keypad menu. I have heard deleting the channel, going to vfo, typing in the freq and entering the tones, then saving this vfo info into the save channel slot it can be done via radio keypad. . . Just heads up if maybe you’re trying to do it through the actual channel menu on the radio not in software.
  9. Nahh get that antenna outside above the roofline and you’ll still gain ALOT of performance no matter what your topography is !!
  10. Man I feel like the tdh3 IS a nice radio that would hang with radios 4x its price if the transmitter section wouldn’t crap the bed. Everything about the tdh3 is freaking awesome. But what’s the point of having a fully featured radio if this POS doesn’t transmit.
  11. My 4 non transmitting tdh3’s all receive exceptionally well. They work great on receive. FWIW.
  12. I have tried everything from firmware, to reset, to ptt+Star+power on reset, to using cps, and chirp, and copying the files from my only working tdh3. Nothing fixed my transmit issue. The dead or no output radios will work a few hundred feet apart but they all register no wattage on my meter. Learn from me!!! Don’t waste your time on trying to get them to work. You won’t. I’ve wasted HOURS messing with mine and still no joy.
  13. Ok I see now, it was the PRIORITY SCAN(function 19) function that was causing me an intermittent receive cutout every 5 seconds or so when the radio would scan in the background for priority channel activity. This scan looks for whatever channel you select for the priority channel.
  14. Nice choice on radio/coax/antenna. I really like those radios, only quirk is be aware if you set a background priority channel. Two of my 1000+ radios exhibited a faulty acting receive when a priority channel was set. It seemed to create a cutout every so often. Also, I've been using the latest version of Chirp to program mine and it's been working awesome. The CPS software is good to but for some reason my computer settings make the cps text awful to read so everytime i use the cps I had to fiddle with the gridfont in the settings tab to make the text look decent.
  15. Yes I have a 50watt dummy load. I just now downloaded new firmware, and downloaded the Tidradio CPS off their website which I created an account to use. It wrote to the radio and I updated the firmware. Still not showing any wattage on the meter. I I programmed with a baofeng kenwood cable, a mirkit brand ftdi kenwood cable still no joy. I give up.
  16. Well that’s the interesting thing Steve, is I’m not exactly sure when these radios went kaput…. They worked fine for a couple weeks after my initial chirp setup. I was happy with them. Then I went in and did a few repeater adjustments…and added a few other frequencies to monitor and then I picked them up one day and noticed they wouldn’t key repeaters. So I put them on my surecom uhf meter and it shows 0.00 watts and now here I am
  17. Thanks! I will dive into your suggestions.
  18. I understand that. Thank you.
  19. I have 1 working tdh3 that has the same version as the 4 non working tdh3’s. I have opened that radio in chirp and then downloaded that file into the other tdh3’s and still no joy. I have programmed multiple radios through chirp and have never had an issue. I appreciate everyone reaching out. I will try downloading new firmware or updating the firmware. Reset on the menu and ptt + star + power on resets have not helped.
  20. I’m beginning to think so too
  21. And….now the two tdh3’s that took the place of the prior two that didn’t transmit now have the exact same problem. I think Chirp is bricking them somehow. They worked great for about 2 weeks and now zero output wattage. I’ve done nothing to them other than fiddle around chirp programming channels and repeaters. Resetting the radios did nothing. Wow. Stumped beyond belief. I’ve got two uv5g’s, 1 uv5g plus, and had 5 tdh3’s and out of 5 tdh3’s 4 of them have went to zero output wattage on my surecom meter after previously showing 3.7 watts. Gosh I hope I can sort this out. It’s not the meter because none of these tdh3’s will open local repeaters and they used to.
  22. We have these problems with frs radios at work. The people using the radios don’t know how to properly key them up before they start talking. (And for the record I tried to talk them out of frs and into Murs so not to take up an frs frequency but they didn’t listen)
  23. Any updates to these kg1000’s sounding a bit over modulated ? Mine is getting occasional reports of it sounding “too hot” or too much mic gain or puupuupuu thhthhthh ish when talking on it. I don’t want to hold the mic 12” from my face when mobile and frankly don’t like doing it from a base either. Purchased it 5 or 6 months ago…..
