No, it has not, and never has been "illegal".. It violates the FCC rules, which are not laws and are not subject to criminal prosecution. Please take a moment to learn the difference between RULES and LAWS... I know this is a pedantic point to make, but if I've learned anything from you, it is that being pedantic is very very important..

Yes - my thought is that within a few weeks this thread will be 10 pages long with nothing more than a bunch of verbal-masturbation and social-defects trying to prove to everyone how smart they think they are.. and, nothing will come of it.. then, a few months later someone will come and ask the same thing again and it will start all over again.

Have you checked the SWR? A high SWR can cause more heat which may result in a thermal-shutdown (no transmitting).

Yes.. That's what deSense does.. The reason you hear the beep is because that happens AFTER you let go of the push-to-talk trigger, so the radio is no longer desensed.. Get the radios at least 25 feet apart and try again. -

GMRS is for talking with your friends while off-roading, hiking, etc. in a very easy, UNcomplicated way H.A.M. is for chatting with anonymous men in the most complicated way possible while trying to show everyone how smart you think you are at the same time Never confuse the two and you will do just fine.

Right.. So instead, recommend something far more complicated than what is required or wanted.. Many regular people prefer a simple to use radio - particularly when it is for business comms because the people that will actually be using the radios are not radio-dorks that get turned-on by more buttons and options. The OP even specified that he did not need/want anything with a keypad.

You can! That's why I choose it over the S50 which i was "this close" to buying.. the S30 also has a tracking-feature for tracking non-celestial objects like cars, planes, people which could be fun to use improperly.

You dont have to worry about "in or out" on a GMRS radio .. just look at the last 3 digits after the period, in this case 675 to determine what channel to use Yes - but OUT (RX) is optional and only blanks-out any other people on the channel that aren't using the repeater so you dont have to hear them It will be "RPT20" or, channel 28
