  1. if we're being honest.. I've done that more than once.. But it was with little kids goofing on their radios so it's ok!
  2. What you did wrong was believing some clown on a GMRS radio that was claiming to be the local police.. TL;dr .. he lied to you..
  3. He did that already, a while back - he had his account deleted and asked the forum owner to delete all of his posts - my guess is because his callsign was showing and he realized that he was embarrassed to have people find out about who/what he really is.. where he works (if he even has a job).. where he lives (or where his parents house is, with him in the basement).. I think Sir Steven Shannon, H.E.R.D., et al, got it right.. the only attention he gets in life is here when he acts like an idiot, so the best thing to do is ignore him and stop talking about him (startinggggg... NOW)..
  4. is that assclown even still here? I blocked him a month or so ago and this has been a much better place ever since... I highly recommend that everyone also hover their mouse over the his user-photo/avatar and click the IGNORE button.. and remember to recommend this action to everyone else when appropriate... Meaning each time he posts one of his socially rheet-harded posts.
  5. Sorry to be "that guy", but you spelled "FARz" wrong..
  6. Can confirm.. the petroleum based brands taste horrible.. But KY does not have much taste at all and it's much easier to wash out of your hair than the petroleum kinds.
  7. But the box said they have "Privacy Codes"!!
  8. I can confirm that it works great for 45 seconds at a time.. Never tested it any longer than that.
  9. NO, it means Normal, as opposed to inverted which would be "i" "code" and "tone" are the same thing, but you are probably looking in the CTCSS section.. Check the DTC/DCS section of the chart to find 053 It's on the chart (probably) but if not, you do not need it.. the RECEIVE tone is 100% optional, so forget about it for now. The TX (Transmit) tone is the only one you really need to care about These are very nice, easy to use GMRS radios, although they are limited in what they can do (like most Midland radios), but having actually used them, I can confirm that they are good radios that perform 100% as well as any other GMRS radio. And, just like all GMRS radios they are 100% compatible with all other GMRS radios, FRS radios, and even the Motorola XTL5000 radios in both of my Jeeps and my handheld Motorola XTS5000 radios. Anyone here claiming otherwise has 1) never used or tested one, and 2) is just trying to get attention to make up for the attention that their mother never gave them... Those people should be ignored.
  10. Thanks for this! I am sure a lot of people considering one of these will find it helpful.
  11. Community Note / Readers Added Context: To identify someone based on their callsign takes 10 seconds and can be done by anyone in the world with access to the internet. To identify someone based on their license plate number in most states takes a lot of work/knowing the right people/filling out the right forms/paying a lot of monies, IF it is even legal to do so in your state.
  12. It's pronounced: reet-hard ..
  13. No, it's not a trick. According to page 40 of the user manual, after switching to VFO mode by pressing the 6/Mode button, then press the 2/Mhz button to direct-enter your frequency. ...and, i just confirmed this works with the KG-1000G+ in my office right next to me... I was going to try it on my Bathroom KG-1000G+, but that's all the way down the hall.
  14. i'm old enough to remember when they were all real.
  15. I guarantee that dude has never seen real boobies in his entire life...
  16. This sounds like a beautiful and glorious land of milk and honey! Literally where we have been house-shopping & planning for when we make our escape from my current State.
  17. According to the BTech website page for this radio, yes: Scanning Receiver (136-174.99MHz (VHF) 400-520.99MHz (UHF))
  18. if your HT can't get 200 miles right out of the box it should go directly into the garbage can. Source: Rheet-hard
  19. Overall, on average, usually, most of the time, statistically, Wouxun makes the best quality radios (that's why they cost more) - but no matter what brand you buy (of anything, not just radios), you always risk getting a dud. Might I suggest the Wouxun XS20G - i think it does everything you want, its small and costs less than the 1000g+ ... that said, I know of hundreds, if not thousands of people with 1000G radios that are very happy with them.
  20. Ignore anyone trying to talk you into spending more money IF your current radio does what you want... and if you decide that you have grown weary of the limitations on your current radio, you will never actually get a helpful answer from that particular rheet-hard - he only knows how to type negative things and never anything that is actually helpful. You may as well put him on your block-list like everyone else does.. that way you don't have to see his stupidity and overt-acts of utter social retardation until he makes a new account and starts over.. again.. with a different name.. So IF you have decided that you want a GMRS radio without all the limitations of your Midland, there are many manufacturers to choose from like Wouxun, BTech, Radioddity (and more) - but which one is "best" depends on what it is you are looking for/want/need, so let us know what is important to you/what you are looking for in a GMRS radio and we can make some suggestions ..
  21. Welcome to the exciting and dynamic world of GMRS! ... One word of warning: Be wary of the trolls here on the forum that tell you that you're doing everything wrong and "if your radio cant transmit 200 miles you should throw it into the trash can" ... He's just a rheet-hard, and other than him everyone here is pretty cool.
  22. Dancing Demon changed the computer world forever...
  23. He's got the 50W radio, he should make them change.. and they will have to endure his wrath if they refuse.
  24. Welcome! The first thing you will learn is that the FRS channels are all GMRS channels and the GMRS channels are all FRS channels.
