No, it looks like there is now a GMRS version/flavor of the 5RM.. One is H.A.M.s radios, the other is GMRS.. So my earlier statement stands amended.
-
What part is false/what are they claiming? When I look them up they just say they are H.A.M.s radios..
-
Did you check the manual to see if that flashing pattern means anything specific?
-
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Midland Ghost antenna based on ACTUAL TESTS AND DATA that I have done (not based on "Some People's" opinion).. However as others have posted, the Ghost antenna form-factor may not be the best choice, but if you use it, it will perform fine as long as its not blocked/surrounded by any metal.

Is a 5rm a GMRS legal radio ? : No - the 5RM is a H.A.M.s radios what’s the difference between a uv-5rm. And a 5rm: a UV-5RM and 5RM are the same thing. I assume you are asking about the 5RM vs the AR-5RM - the 5RM is locked and the AR-5RM is not locked. If my assumption was wrong, please elaborate. EDIT/UPDATE! -- There is NOW a 5RM GMRS version available in addition to the H.A.M.s radios version of the 5RM.. So look carefully at the description before purchasing.

When someone is listening to you over the radio, the only thing they know about you is going to be your callsign, assuming you aren't an idiot and have not broadcast your full name for everyone to hear. So usually, over the radio, which is what the context of this discussion is, it is VERY difficult to look up someone's address without going through the FCC website.

Wong.. again... Stalkers, haters, and other radiotards often look up FCC call signs to get home addresses.

Question: Paid Subscription Repeaters?
OffRoaderX replied to wilbilt62's topic in General Discussion
I *think* there is an FCC rule buried somewhere about not using repeaters without permission? But I will yield to anyone that knows/cares more about it than I do. -

They can complain to the FCC who, based on their record of enforcement over the last 15 years, statistically speaking, will do nothing. -
Question: Paid Subscription Repeaters?
OffRoaderX replied to wilbilt62's topic in General Discussion
Correction: Based on the FCCs "enforcement" record over the last 15 years for H.A.M.s radios, GMRS, and CB radio, they apparently do NOT like to enforce their rules. -
Question: Paid Subscription Repeaters?

CORRECTION: Not "illegal", but a violation of FCC rules.. -
I know a guy here on this forum that regularly/ALWAYS gets 200+ miles on all of his radios.. He apparently does this by purchasing every radio ever made and if it does not get 200+ miles, he just throws it directly into the trash.. All of his "friends" also do the same thing, so this method obviously works.

...that can also receive VHF & UHF, including 70cm. But chances are he was a a GMRS channel and was hearing linked repeaters.

"some people" are so funny, all trying to prove who's smarter over something that does not matter in any way - The FCC doesn't even care. "some people" should bicker over something that actually matters.

Yah, that's what i thought.. I dont know if the OP as already installed the software, it had a driver issue, so now he's installing the drivers, or if he's just clicking willy-nilly.. When I installed the software the separate driver setup/install was not needed as you eluded to in your previous post. MrSig: Did you install the actual software, and ran into a problem with the drivers, and that is why you are trying to run the Driver Setup program?

Question: Paid Subscription Repeaters?
OffRoaderX replied to wilbilt62's topic in General Discussion
Charging for its use does not make it "commercially operated".. But, to (i think) answer your and the OP's question, it does not break any rules to charge for the repeater as long as its not "for profit" .. -
Question: Paid Subscription Repeaters?
OffRoaderX replied to wilbilt62's topic in General Discussion
If that makes you sad, you should set up your own repeater so everyone can use it for free and teach them all a lesson. -
Often times there is no benefit to most people. When asked, I generally recommend to never bother with an update unless said update fixes some specific issue that you need to be fixed. "some people" often just blindly apply any update they come across and they sometimes learn the hard way that the risk of permanently brick'ing the radio is high.

What is the name of the Executable file you are running when this happens?

I am going to guess, based on his previous responses, that he is going to have zero clue what any of those words mean. ..just a guess though..

Antenna with great SWR readings, does that mean it is a good antenna?
OffRoaderX replied to Zn105's question in Technical Discussion
Probably, and in most cases, yes - but as @SteveShannon pointed out, there are many other factors - and, as he also mentioned, you need to try it in the real world - and you should listen to him because he is an official & licensed H.E.R.D. -
Can you give the exact wording, or a screenshot of any errors or messages you received?

Wouxun KG-1000G Plus Single vs Dual Display question
OffRoaderX replied to BobDiamond's question in Technical Discussion
Same here.. that should never been enabled.. I guess now we know why.. although my NEXT suggestion would have been to do a factory-reset, which would have set that setting back to off, thereby fixing the issue, so technically, given a long-enough timeline, I was right. -
yah, try that in this neck of the woods and we will berate you right off the channel - go try to impress people somewhere else.
