But seriously, yes. That's what you do - but then you unscrew the front control head - turn the display right side up, and screw it back on. It was designed to do that. Alternatively, you can hook up an external speaker & put that anywhere that's convenient.

If it's not finding the comm port, that's almost always a driver issue. Some cables, win10 requires installing an older version of the drivers for the cable.
Wasn't able to find a good source offhand, but I'll try to look some more a bit later when I can get on an actual computer.
