  1. This feature really came inhandy last weekend. Our group split up and were on two separate channels.
  2. Another thing to consider is dust and dirt. I mounted my ARB Dual Compressor under the passenger seat of my 2021 JLUR a while back. The two filters definitely need more attention now, compared to having it mounted on the drivers side of the cargo bay, mounted just below the rear left side window.
  3. I should mention also, that Latino 625 is for private use only, so I removed it from the list of repeaters I added to my Wouxun KG-1000G and KG-935G. Both radios skip right past the empty channel, unfortunately I'm unable to just remove the row like you can in Excel. I should be OK for now. Once I'm in Moab in April, we have a couple sessions planned to get everyone's radio(s) configured.
  4. I definitely have a lot to learn on the GMRS side, didn't know there were so many ways to configure repeaters. Almost all of the repeater owners responded with helpful info.
  5. Thanks, I'm new to GMRS repeaters. I guess since I followed all the settings outlined by the repeater owner, I should be OK.
  6. I finally borrowed a buddie's PC laptop, and have compiled a list of repeaters in my area. Three of the listed repeaters had strange tones(?), was wondering if anyone can take a peek and let me know if I'm off? The red, green, and blue entries are the ones I'm not sure about. TIA
  7. Hmm...worked for me, for the repeater I programmed. My apologies if it doesn't work for you. I reached out to some buddies who walked me through the steps. I'm not an expert on repeaters by any stretch of the imagination.
  8. Such a great radio, such a simple oversight.
  9. I just ordered software that'll run on a Mac, along with a USB cable for the KG-1000G. We'll see once it comes in. https://www.rtsystemsinc.com/RPS-KG1000G-Programming-Software-Only-for-the-Wouxun-KG-1000G_p_471.html
  10. NotARubicon adds his name to the display of his KG-935G (not the one he set on fire, I don't think), it's only possible using the software, so fingers crossed.
  11. Ouch, mine is at my side and it is distracting at night. Have you looked at their programming software to see if there's an option to dim the display? I suppose if there is, that wouldn't be great, since you won't be able to brighten/dim on the road. #sigh
  12. I've had my Wouxun KG-1000G for a couple weeks, it's an incredible radio. However, I'm also a little frustrated that the screen can't be dimmed. I hope a firmware update is released that'll give us the option. Page 23 of their admin guide mentions "Three Color Selectable Backlight", but no directions on how to change. Anyone know if the options are available using their software? PS, here's a shot of it mounted on the passenger side of the console in my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.
  13. Nice, NotARubicon posted another great video. Boy I wish I had a PC, I only have a Mac.
  14. @OffRoaderX Thanks, I wasn't sure I wanted to tamper with the settings for a built in repeater channel. So I tried to create a new one. Unfortunately I don't have a PC...I'm a Mac user, so I had to do this on the handheld radio. #hangsheadinshame Does this look right? Looked for the closest repeater (LEARN South). Sent the repeater owner (shield1751) a request for permission to use his repeater. I searched the frequency reference list for the Input/Output frequencies used by the repeater: Output 462.700 [CTCSS 136.5] Input 467.700 [CTCSS 136.5] Found that Repeater Channel 21 matches those frequencies. Select Repeater Channel 21 on the radio. Select CH-ADD to clone the Repeater Channel 21. Give it a name (#Chester1) and note the new custom channel is 31. Save it since I'm notorious for losing unsaved changes. With custom channel 31 (#Chester1) selected, set: CTCSS TX to 136.5 Hz CTCSS RX to 136.5 Hz Save the changes. Once I get the OK from the repeater owner, I'll test to see if anyone hears me. Thanks for the assist! Don Montalvo (WRJJ303) Devon, PA
  15. I read through the manuals, they are very well written. However, I can't find a step-by-step for programming the two or three local repeaters.
  16. Finally mounted the Wouxun KG-1000G to the passenger side of the console. The mic mounts to the low end of my JeepUniq cradle (my Garmin InReach Explorer+ mounts on the top). I plan to mount my CB there at some point, then I'll move the Wouxun KG-1000G to under the drivers seat, and will find a place for the faceplate. \
  17. Late to this thread. Rugged Radios sells the best mount for this spot in the passenger foot well. That is, if you want to mount the whole radio there. I plan to mount my CB there, and am looking to mount the faceplate for my Wouxun KG-1000G in the space ahead of the shifter on my 2021 JLUR. https://www.ruggedradios.com/collections/jeep-jl/products/jeep-jl-jt-passenger-side-mobile-radio-mount Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Rugged Radios makes a very stable and adjustable mount for Jeep JLs. Lots of holes in the plate to fine tune the position, I keep it as far forward as possible. The radio came with a mic that has a built in magnet, and the kit includes Scosche Magnetic hand mic hanger. Very strong magnet for the mic.
