About Me
A few years ago my wife and I discovered my brother in law's old Ham radio. It got me on the track to getting my amateur license (K04PPH). Following that, I discovered GMRS and immediately got that license as well. I soon discovered the closest repeater required me to be outside. I had let the activity from me die down the last couple years. Every Monday I get the weekly digest hoping to see my hometown pop up. Finally it did and it is a friend of mine. That has got me interested in GMRS again.
I grew up in a small town. Around 16 I joined the local Civil Air Patrol squadron. After high school I joined the Army and after all my training, I was assigned to Bravo Company, 1/505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft Bragg, NC. We were one of the first units deplyed to Desert Shield and we were still there for Desert Storm. After the Army, I came home and volunteered with Civil Air Patrol as an adult member. My experience in the Army was a huge asset to the squadron, where I served in multiple roles including the Squadron Commander. I have trained hundreds of adults and youth in my 20 years.
I've been a member of the local DES Rescue Squad; currently an EMT-Firefighter on the Reidland-Farley fire dept. I've been a Deputy Coroner and I've worked part-time on our local ambulance service. I worked at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant as a Security Police Officer and currently work as a Security Officer at BaptistHealth Paducah.
