Oh, I see now: the other thread is you, too! They should be giving you more help there. I understand your question to be that you want to enter the parameters for a repeater into your 905G and NOT that you want to install a repeater, yes?
-
On the Map (not the List) there is a Setup Wheel that when clicked opens up two options, which I turned on: Show Off-line Repeaters; and Show Stale Repeaters Now, of course they may or may not still be active in real life.
-
Welcome! Head over to this linked thread about NJ and 905G Just click on my underlined link above and GOOD LUCK!

Thank you for your service Bob! ?

Will your DB20-G be GMRS only; or will you open it up to Ham bands: 2 meters and 70 cms? So you may want to consider a dual-band antenna.
-
I think he is hoping that a vacuum mount that he once used for a radar detector, will now work to hold his DB-20G; so that the heat generated by the DB20-G does not harm his leather interior. Other than my cup-mount holder for the DB20-G do any of you have any other ideas on holding the DB20-G so that the heat will properly dissipate?

Until you identify the specific repeater, from the Map function here on myGMRS and your location in Essington, PA, it appears you are close to these repeaters: Bigfoot443 462.725 Permission Required Woodlyn, PA RidleyPrk575 462.550 Tone=123.0 Ridley Park, PA LEARN South 462.700 Tone=136.5 Chester, PA Aston 550 462.550 Tone=131.8 Aston, PA Aston Mills 462.575 Tone=141.3 Aston, PA Yeadon 550 462.550 Tone=141.3 Yeadon, PA Penn 1 PHILA 462.725 Permission Required Philadelphia, PA South 1 462.725 Permission Required South Philadelphia, PA Latino625 462.625 Members Only (Free) Philadelphia, PA NE Philly 575 462.575 Permission Required North East Philadelphia, PA

On your DB20-G, if you push the FUN button on the radio, a menu should appear. If you use the V/M key for UP and MAIN key for DOWN, scroll through the Menu and see if you can get to Menu 01:T-CDC with "Off" or a number below it. If you can get into 01:T-CDC with your radio keypad, then you can use the Up and Down arrow keys above the FUN key to scroll through the available CTCSS tones to get to the specific one to enable your access to the specific repeater. A Receive tone is not needed for now. If you cannot get into 01:T-CDC, but it scrolls through other Menu items, then it appears to me that you will have to use the programming software to program the necessary CTCSS tones. I continue to do research about this issue and programming from the radio, but it seems this ability is limited when the radio comes out of the box as a GMRS only radio.

Which GMRS Repeater channel and CTCSS or DCL tones? Do you have your DB20-G ready for GMRS out of the box, or have you "opened it up" to transmit on Ham bands, too? Did yours come with the USB programming to Microphone socket cable? If so, have you installed the programming software in Windows? If you hold the V/M key down and then power up, which version of Firmware (V.xxxx) do you have? Then power down.
-
Yes: You have your Radioddity DB20-G upside down, so as to gain maximum volume from the speaker located on its underside, but... With a heavy transmitting duty cycle, this unit will develop much heat and you have the top frame's heat diffusers directly on your interior leather! Do you have the Ricambi cupholder installed? Perhaps this cupholder mount from Amazon might be a better option.
-
Welcome! what radio are you using? which repeater and which codes and frequency?
-
Congratulations and welcome to the world of Ham VHF and UHF and some very limited HF privileges! If I recall correctly, you also have the Radioddity DB-20G and can immediately start taking advantage of 2 meter and 440 MHz FM simplex and repeaters in your area surrounding South Bend, IN. I am going to shout out to @WROA675to step in, as he just upgraded from his Tech about two weeks ago to his General, and he should let us know his steps to learn the General materials. He got very lucky: as he was able to pickup an "open box" set of the Yaesu FT-891 160 to 6 meters and LDG Z-11ProII antenna tuner from a local Ham who had just upgraded to the FT-991 and got a great price! Maybe he'll share some photos as he builds out his new shack!

That is helpful, now that I am getting more active with better solar propogation on HF!
-
Thank you! Do you have links to propagation maps for HF other than: DXMAPS 4.2 - QSO/SWL real time information

Same here: I program my Anytone AT-779UV with v2.02 of the Radioddity CPS Software

How long is the 6 meter telescoping antenna when fully collapsed and when fully extended?
-
DB20-GUV; I believe, since it is both UHF and VHF. However, you should just accept what the default is already set to and not make a change here. Once you can program from your computer, FIRST THING YOU DO is copy the default codeplug already in the radio and save it on your computer as a recognizable name, such as DEFAULT and the Date. What is your firmware version (the number that comes up on the screen when you power on while holding down the V/M key)?

I posted two QST articles that over the years I had scanned and saved to my computer. I had found them to be fundamentally helpful to me in areas that I knew would grow in complexity. Before I posted them, I considered that your response might be to ignore their content and point to their age. And sure enough, you ignored their content, pointed to their age and still called them garbage. I wondered why someone would say that and then I read: And that explained it all to me!
-
I hear what you’re saying. Thank you for taking the time to explain it for me. It's kind of like when I order a burrito with an extra portion of chicken (which I pay extra for) and then wonder if they really added the extra chicken! ? Now I order the extra portion of chicken on the side and insert it into the burrito myself! ?
-
I guess "content" is in the eye of the beholder. I found these articles from QST (page one of each is posted below) to be extraordinarily helpful:

I am just curious... I am not a customer of BTWR, as I have never purchased anything from them. Did the returned radio have any written explanation with it? But other than you sending the radio back to them and them sending it back to you, what did you expect?

Did you donate your subscription to QST to a local library?
