Scheduler rpt.conf / crontab
FrostyFruits replied to FrostyFruits's question in Technical Discussion
I found that if I type sudo asterisk -rx "rpt playback 24219 /home/repeater/announcement" I can get my announcement to play over my repeater. I went into my crontab -e using sudo to set it up to play at 5:00 everyday. 00 17 * * * asterisk -rx "rpt playback 24219 /home/repeater/announcement" Looking in my log file it shows it played but nothing over the repeater. May 12 17:00:01 node-24219 CRON[20983]: (root) CMD (asterisk -rx "rpt playback 24219 /home/repeater/announcement") What am I missing or am I not doing it right?- 8 replies

Well I did it. I drilled 3 holes. My heart was pounding the hole time but it really wasn't too bad. I would do it again if I had to. Put some dielectric grease on the o-rings before tightening them down. As long as there's no leaks when it rains I'll be good.

Looks like Rock Pi is coming out with a new Raspberry Pi clone. Has anyone tried them? How do they work compared to a Raspberry Pi? For the price I might just grab one to try it out. https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/05/05/rock-pi-4-model-c-sbc-features-1-5-ghz-rockchip-rk3399-t-cpu-dual-hdmi-output/

Try disconnecting negative from battery and put it to a bolt on the chassis or even a seat bolt. You could be getting noise or feed back from the alternator or some other electronics. I have a DC filter coming because I can hear an alternator whine through cb channels. https://www.gigaparts.com/kenwood-pg-3b.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1N2TBhCOARIsAGVHQc7XAMe6GAia8Z32Osig50r03P8O1MgaEGAMk1NHe_DItXB3MU2UA54aApqZEALw_wcB

DVSwitch Mobile Outside Home Network
FrostyFruits replied to FrostyFruits's question in Technical Discussion
I redid my port forwarding. I had it set up as forwarding port UDP 4569 -> 4569, I changed it to Any -> 4569. -
DVSwitch Mobile Outside Home Network
FrostyFruits replied to FrostyFruits's question in Technical Discussion
I got it figured out. I also get the dvswitch dashboard on the web with my local ip address. Is there a way to let other people connect without giving out my ip address? -
DVSwitch Mobile Outside Home Network
FrostyFruits replied to FrostyFruits's question in Technical Discussion
I believe I have it set up correctly since I can link my node with other nodes. -
When I go into /etc/asterisk/iax.conf to get the credentials I can add iaxclient to DVSwitch on my phone, I can even add a new user to the conf file that also works on my phone. The problem is it only works on my home network, I even put my public ip address into DVSwitch but again it only work on my home network and not outside it. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I have to setup to access outside my network?

You can try this adapter to make sure it'll run the radio before cutting the cable. You could also splice into this if needed. https://www.amazon.com/Cigarette-Lighter-Socket-Female-Converter/dp/B07DDKD7Y7?th=1
-
DANG! I need me one of those! When it says request quote you know it's expensive. I probably couldn't afford 1 let alone 3. Lol. Are you a first responder or public safety?
-
NMO will open up more antenna options, so hopefully the adapter you found works.
-
Sweet, I didn't think there'd be issues but figured I'd ask. It's hard to find info on multi nmo roof mounts. Do you have multiband radios or do you have 6 radios installed?
-
You'd be better off swapping the stud mount for a nmo mount. If your cable has a pl239 going to stud mount you can get a nmo that fits it. Otherwise you'll have to cut and splice an nmo onto the end or run a new cable. Then grab yourself this adapter so you can still use your current antenna. I'm looking to add 3 nmo mounts to my roof. It's a 2014 Ram 1500. This is the layout I'm going with. Red is GMRS, Blue is CB, Purple is 2m, Black line is sat shark fin. Are there any issues with the distance between the 3? Right now I have 2 mag mounts with the GMRS at the Red and a the CB at the yellow dot, I don't wanna add a 3rd mag mount so my roof is getting 3 holes. They work perfectly fine for me. They weren't in an image file when I found them. They were in a pdf from someone with the call sign W2YMM. I even found a few more tones. Make sure your using sudo to modify the rpt.conf file. After you save the file you have to restart asterisk. This is my list, I just use the ct# where needed unlinkedct = ct9 ; Send a this courtesy tone when the user unkeys if the node is not connected to any other nodes. Connecting repeaters to myGMRS.
FrostyFruits replied to shawnvanhorn's question in Technical Discussion
Pi4 will not work unless you modify the image. Get a 3b or 3b+. They will work wirelessly. Check the mygmrs store for the 25pin cable. There's programs you can put on the pi for severe weather. Check youtube on how to do it. Make sure you back up your image and files before trying incase you have to restore. Edit: Here's a pdf I found that might help you for the weather https://hamvoip.org/howto/AutoSky_howto.pdf- 1 reply

I can't speak for the FG4607, but I do have the FG4603 on a bridgecom bcr-40du. I get better performance with the FG4603 compared to the Ed Fong GMRS antenna I replaced, along with better SWR. The higher the db the narrower the beam from what I understand. Looking at the specs, FG4603 has a 33* beamwidth, FG4605 has a 27* beamwidth and the FG4607 has a 14* beamwidth. The FG4607 will shoot your signal out further but it might miss people lower down. (all beamwidth specs came from https://www.talleycom.com/)

If your looking for a custom voice for your repeater go check out FakeYou.com There's a lot of voices to pick from. Make sure you listen to it before you download, they don't always sound good. Then scroll back up to Voice Id on how to use it.
-
First you have to know what repeater your going to get and see if it has an 25 pin accessory port. Don't get an ID-O-Matic. You'll need a raspberry pi, SD card with mygmrs image, a URIx, and of course the 25 pin cable. Check out the mygmrs store, you can get everything except the raspberry pi, you have to get that on your own. Learn how to use linux, then hop over to the technical discussion section.

NOOB Cheat sheet for NODE Programing?
FrostyFruits replied to alexd51's question in Technical Discussion
Did you ever get it working? Do you still need help? Check out this wiki, it helps me a lot. https://wiki.allstarlink.org/wiki/Main_Page https://wiki.allstarlink.org/wiki/Rpt.conf If you still need help I'll try to help the best I can. -
I found out how to play a voice id for my repeater. Is there a way to have a sound file play at a certain time every day? I tried doing it a few different way in rpt.conf under Scheduler at the bottom but can't get it to work. I know my sound file works because it'll work when used as my voice id. Thanks for any help!

Glad this helped. These tones were not included. I happened to stumble onto them while searching for other things on some website or maybe a wiki page, I forget exactly where but I did put the persons call sign for credit. If you open your rpt.conf file and scroll down you'll see ct1-ct8 already there. That's all that's included. Just add a tone you want under it.
