look on the data base, preferably the KML version so you can sort them out. New York, New Jersey, Penn and the Carolinas have quite a few. New York tops out. Some of these guys have double digit repeaters scattered within a small area and they are using every available repeater ch..

the ones that crack me up and piss me off or the operators hiding under the REACT blanket and in Paid use status..... (not all but a lot) clearly opportunists at work.

Listen in to some of them and give me your opinion. IMO someone is making money and probably used to keep adding more repeaters. and we haven't got into the tax write off part of it yet..

kind of reminds me of the 100's of new repeaters that people register but their status is always 'offline'.. Whats that purpose??? Are they trying to 'claim' a frequency they don't use... some pretty crazy thinking...

yup, there is a growing number of those guys, mostly back east, some in the mid west. Where the hell do they get their money.. They sure have one hell of a large family,, don't they

we'll see what happens in the next 5-6 months.. Government has a way of dong what it wants.. We know that for a fact.

Prbly before year end and no promises on REACT usage.. I know there has been some chatter on it..

Pretty sure we will be seeing a clarification/revision to GMRS rules soon... And i bet those revisions address a lot more and could even address REACT usage. I see it coming.

actually probably a good idea. That would be their last step and wouldn't change the outcome if you gave them the info on their 1st, 2nd request. Not sure how that would impact fines etc if the offense warranted penalties. Usually cooperating gets you a long ways, but not always. Probably would hire an attorney and follow what they say.

I wouldn't give the FCC any of the that information unless they sent me a formal letter requesting it.. And i doubt seriously the FCC has any intentions of going any further with this matter. I would take this as a learning experience. move on and follow the rules. Now others will enjoy the open bandwidth to do their thing..

When I go up to Lake Crawley and fire up my portable repeater it gets a hell of a lot of use from boaters and campers, young and old alike. Kids even love it, they have a lot of fun with radio and i get a kick out of listening to them. . When i pack up and leave everyone misses the heck out using the portable repeater. Camping families are able to take their radios and keep in touch with camp from the lake all the way into Mammoth.. When someone needs to make a shopping run, they always use the repeater.. It was always hard for me to shut it down when i left. But someone has finally erected a permanent repeater in the area and it works great.. I hope it attracts the family side and it gets good use.. GMRS can be fun for everyone if it is used for the right purpose.

oh. you are missing out.. very good tool, much easier to navigate then use of the site navigation tools. And it has a LOT of other uses too...

You have to be a paid member to get to the KML version of the database.. Once you have the KML file you can open it s an XML (need excel) and manipulate the the data just as you do in a real database, which enables you to sort data.. The newer version of Excel also has tools that allows one to 'swipe' data off web HTMS very easy.. In either case, once you have en XML file you have a database. No I will no share the person but i will say he/she/it is not the only one doing these 'rogue' networks. Many of them in the East coast and some in the Mid West.. One person does have licensed repeaters across multiple states and its strange that his/her/it's license stretch across from the East to the West.. I'm thinking the FCC has gotten the KML version of the file and did a backwards conversion as i suggested above to get the database.. Thats my bet. BTW, The KML file is the one you open with Google Earth..

its not hard to figure out who the 'custodian' of this large New York network belongs too. Using the KML tool reveals it very easily.. You even see the same person networked into New Jersey. And it's not hard to figure out why the FCC has made some noises out of 'courtesy. Visit the KML map, do a sort and look at the repeater network by area one person is hogging. Just think for a minute, 'one' licensed person is using for this entire network which ends up for the sole use of a 'club' Defiantly not what the FCC intended in the course of making the GMRS a family and friend radio service. This persons network does not meet that definition of GMRS but closer to a HAM WIN or PAPA network which is managed very closely by a lot of people and licensed by many many HAM radio operators. . In a nutshell, this person was running a rogue repeater network infringing on a lot bandwidth other people deserve to use for their own little thing. These private network clubs are popping up in a lot of places, they hog up bandwidth others want to use and have fun with and essentially end up controlling the whole GMRS bandwidth.. I think its overdue the FCC steps in.. This is happening in other states as well, and one person seems to get stepping a lot of ground.. I'll leave it at that. So long.

And still many people seem to forget that GMRS/FRS including the repeater option and usage is meant for personal family usage. i just LMAO over the number of people that treat GMRS like its meant as a tool for business purposes or similar to communications in the HAM radio world... And i get a bigger chuckle over the good handful of folks out there that have 10,15 and even 20 repeaters in operation then get mad because someone is on 'their' frequency.. BTW,, FCC petitions is a standard way to blow you off. Have fun.. Some of us get a good laugh out of this.

And we've all owned a few 'coakroaches'... Damn things are so tough, the're hard to get rid of

this is going on in a lot of areas.. Especially in 'busy' cities fued's and 'stomping' is only getting more popular and intentional. Kind of reminds me of the CB hay day.. Even a week out camping trying to use these GMRS radios turns into fiesta of jack-wads.. Certainly has gotten pretty bad in the last two years.
