The one good thing about Nikon is they stuck with their F mount through out their camera line until the mirrorless.  I think Canon has had several different mount systems, but don't quote me on that.

Canon has the original film slr fd mount, the eos mount that spans film and digital, the eos ef-s which is specifically designed for crop frame sensors but still fits "full frame" lenses, and the eos-m for the mirroless architecture, which there is mounts to convert eos and eos ef-s lenses.

Anyone remember the Dakota Digital “disposable” digital camera from Ritz Camera about 25 years ago?

Haven't you figured it out yet?  We're electronic nerds.

I hadn't specifically thought about it until now, but if someone had asked me, I would have bet that radio dorks tend to be into other "gee whiz" electronics as well.

I owned a large automotive web forum, so a digital camera was a requirement.  My first DSLR (over 20 years ago) was a Nikon D100, which served me well.  The resolution was good enough for the forum, and prints weren't too bad.  I moved up to a Nikon D7100 several years ago, and that's where I'm at.  Mirrorless will be next, but I don't know when that will be.  I sold the forum, and I am usually sticking to wildlife now.

D70 was a nice camera for its time..  My lense investment was holding me back from going mirrorless but I learned Nikon has an adapter mount (FTZ mount) for the Z mirrorless cameras allowing you to use all DX&FX lenses on the Z mirrorless cameras while retaining all auto functions of the lenses and no loss in picture quality.   The Z8 is mind blowing with all the capabilities it offers.  Honestly, i will take me at least a year to learn all of its functions and capability.

The D70 was my first dSLR when Nikon introduced it and I really liked it, which started me on that lens acquisition rabbit hole. Now I have all the large aperture primes from 500/4 down, even the world famous and much loved 200/2 and 58/1.2. Same with all the 2.8 zooms. I haven't went mirrorless yet as I'm still enjoying my antiquated and obsolete D800 and D810, which are still amazing bodies. I will definitely get a mirrorless body and adapter in the future and probably pick up a few lenses, but not going replace my classics.

the Z8 is an amazing camera. I'm still playing and getting acquainted with mine.  The video options is mind blowing.   Picked up a HF 4800 hard case and been working on 3D Printed Organizers.   Making a tip to Death Valley next week.  Excited to get out and start taking some pictures.
