New to GMRS and looking for equipment recommendations

I am new to GMRS (just received my FCC license) and looking for equipment recommendations. We have no repeaters in our community.

 

Family is about 10 miles from each other.

 

I am looking for a vehicle/base station type radio and a handheld unit for the family to use.

 

Please let me know your thoughts on quality equipment to invest in.

Check out the equipment reviews threads. Lots of good info. Best bet will be a part 90 radio. Many here have had good luck with them, compared to the newer GMRS specific radios.
