I only have a single repeater nearby that operates on 462.575 DPL 156

I've seen "complaints" about the Midland MXT400 saying it has limitations for use with repeaters. Some reviews say all 8 channels are all on or all off, or that it takes only a single code per channel. I'm not sure what they mean... Are repeater frequencies/codes "pre-set" or can one program them?

With the MTX400 work with my in-range repeater?

Thanks!

Some repeaters use a different tone for receive and transmit. Your MXT400 (as well as every other Midland GMRS radio) can only use the same code/tone on BOTH transmit and receieve.

On the listing for the repeater do you see:

462.575  DPL156

467.575  DPL156

Or do you see a different code/tone for each of the frequencies? Idf it is the same you can access that repeater. If they are different you are out of luck. At least with your Midland.

Yes, the listing is indeed:

462.575  DPL156

467.575  DPL156

So it seems I'm in luck!

When I "hit" a GMRS Repeater, do I get an audible signal like a HAM Radio repeater?

Thanks,

Many Ham repeaters will use a courtesy or "over" beep.  Not all GMRS machines will use it, but some will.

Some repeaters will not re-transmit "dead air" if you just kerchunk the machine without passing any audio.
