CHIRP doesn't recognize my Btech V1

Hello,

Newbie here.

I want to use CHIRP for my new Btech GMRS v1. i have an apple usb c to usb but my Btech doesn't show up in the CHIRP profile. what am I missing? is there an easy way to get the device recognized?

Mine does make sure you are looking under Btech not Baofeng.

I did that but still no luck, My MacBook OS is the most current version. Chirp still isn’t recognizing the device.

It is possible that it may be the issue with your USB cable.  What USB cable did you buy and where? Did your MacBook OS recognize the cable and install driver?

 

I bought my first USB cable to use with CHIRP from Amazon. When I plugged it in Windows 10 didn't recognize the cable and didn't install the driver. I had to hunt Internet for the driver.

 

The second USB cable I bought was BTECH PC-03 FTDI Genuine USB Programming Cable from this MyGRMS site. Windows 10 recognized that cable and installed driver automatically

That’s the same, cable that I have. The MacBook allows the driver install and the chirp install. I’m stuck at the point where the chirp install options where the gmrs device isn’t recognized.

Is there a cheet sheet for this install in a Apple product? Any other recommendations?

Does your CHIRP on your MacBook see virtual COM port?

I had a similar issue - and the cable I had had an issue up near where it connected to the radio. While it worked fine on a different baofeng radio - the housing caught just a bit on the lip of the recessed area where it plugged into the radio - and it did not allow the two plugs to quite seat all the way.

 

I shaved a tiny bit of plastic off the cable plug (not the radio), and once it seated properly it was ok.

 

I have no idea if this is your situation, but it sounds very similar.

the is the error message states, " not the amount of data that we want"

 the port options are:/dev/cu.usbserial-A10KAO64. and/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port

May be your Apple USB-C to USB adapter is the culprit and does not pass all the data that CHIRP needs?

could be. I also used a usb hub and that didn't work. having a blast with this..lol

I had this problem with the Btech PC03 programming cable when I used it with my Retevis RB26 GMRS.  We live in 2-story home and my two children live upstairs.  My wife or I had to yell pretty loud for them to hear us sometimes, so I purchase a 5-unit Retevis RB26 package from Amazon to use as an intercom system. They work great!  Three radios are in the bedrooms with other two in her kitchen and my office.  I used Chirp to program the key lock function on the PF1 key.  It came programmed for monitoring.  My kids would sometimes hit the PF1 or 2 keys instead of the PTT key and change the channel.  The only bad thing is it will return to unlocked if powered off, but I just have to press the PF1 for a couple of seconds to lock the keys again.
