Command codes

Question

Posted

The system gets into a ring around noise effect occasionally where a transmitter keys because it heard noise from another repeater and they klick back and forth because they are conveniently on the same PL tone?  I was wondering if you can provide the system reset code for when this happens?

What's this? Anyways - we had a repeater start hearing itself (Pecos 550) after we adjusted a few other things including shooting microwave internet over to the site to get rid of a link radio that had started acting up with the 4 hours of burn time we get almost daily now. It's been unlinked until we fix it - it's not a ping pong between different repeaters or a link radio/repeater, but an antenna noise issues with lack of adequate isolation on the filters after an antenna change. There's a return trip involved with that one unfortunately; nothing we can fix remotely.

I believe it's called the ping-pong effect when one repeater starts keying another and they bounce back and forth. Other than different codes or powering down there isn't a way to stop it. Cell companies had the problem when private repeater nodes started appearing. Thet could shut the feed down to an antenna and then send the FCC to cite the repeater operator for an illegal transmitter.

What are you talking about ?

Given the OP'S location, he may be talking about one of the SWCRS repeaters.

Hate to keep dragging him into threads, but @JeepCrawler98 is the only one I know of that may have the behind the scenes info to look into the issue and maybe who might have hands on the repeaters involved to get it sorted.
