New KG-935G Error when attempting to connect to Com Port

WRTH350

Question

Greetings all!!!

I am new to GMRS and I have just purchased a KG-935G and have installed the Driver and Software provided by buytwowayradios.com and I am getting an error when attempting to choose the Com Port. I have run this as an Admin and on two separate machines with the same results. Has anyone seen this previously? With this being the only programming software available, without purchasing and waiting for the RT software, I was hoping for suggestions past this. Win10 is up to date, driver is showing up properly and I've even rebooted. I am using the Wouxun USB Programming Cable (PCO-001).

Debug Assertion Failed

Line: 325

Thanks to all!!!

James

What version of software did  you install? 64 bit or 32 bit?

Also, do you have any Com ports enabled on your motherboard?

Hey MM,

I user the x64 Drivers,

Versions....

Application: KG-935G V1.02(20210831)

Driver: 10.1.10.103 (wouxun_pco_001 Driver), 11.1.0 (Universal Driver)

The BIOS shows no COM Porte enabled. Also attempted to change the COM Port in the Driver Advances Settings, with no change.

Thanks!!

Does your device manager show Com port? See attachment.

Also, try this: uninstall 64 bit version of software and install 32 bit version. See if it helps.

Thanks to all for the guidance. I disabled any BIOS level COM ports just in case of a system conflict between physical and virtual COM Ports. Both x32 and x64 versions of the Software give the same error.

On a good note, I spun up a new WIN10 Virtual Machine and did a pass through for the USB and the software worked. Not the optimal solution, but it worked.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I will continue to troubleshoot the main system, but at least I can now start programming.

Thanks!!

James

My Baofeng USB cable for my GMRS-9R didn't like USB 3 Super Speed (Blue tab). I switched to the slower speed USB port and didn't have any more problems with Win 7 Pro.

It seems that if the cable is NOT plugged into the USB 3 port and connected to the radio on boot, the port doesn't get recognized. Wondering if Win 10 has the same issues.  With Linux Ubuntu I don't have the USB problem.
