MichaelLAX
Through October 31st, 2022: Announcing the QRZ New Ham Jumpstart Program WROZ250 and Lscott
Lscott
That's a cool idea. As a new Ham most start off with an HT. The question is which one to buy. This program takes the risk out of spending you money on something you later don't like. This gives the new Ham a chance to get on the air quickly. WRUK662
I heard a new HAM recently on the air saying he took advantage of the program. I thought it is an excellent deal. Too many people get their license after studying (or a lot of lucky guesses on the exam) then do nothing with it. Got my tech license 16 months ago and bought the small Yeasu FT4X as my first HT. Sure, coulda gotten a Boofwang but... I'm a REAL HAM so needed a REAL HAM HT.

gortex2
Why use chirp when you can download the Yaesu software from the website.
MichaelLAX
Nice tip! The Gigaparts ad that I reviewed did not mention the download and even included the RT systems software as an add-on for $50. Now I can save the cost of CHIRP! The 65R was only $5 more, based upon my records (bought two as "incentives" for the nieces to study the license manuals I'd previously provided). However, CHIRP does list many of the Yaesu models... Including both of those mentioned...
