Hi All total Noob here. I recently got a Midland MTX275.  I am running the standard magnet antenna.  I have had my license for a few years now, but have never really delved into GMRS.  I have a couple of questions regarding the setup of the MTX275.  I turned on the repeater channels in the menu.  From there here is my understanding (probably wrong).

1. If I locate a repeater on frequency 462.600 - that is channel 17RP. Correct?
2. Do I enter the repeater tone in the TC or RC portion of the Repeater channel menu for the frequency?

I think I have been getting a response from the repeater, but I get no acknowledgement from anyone.  I am also in the Chicago area and I hear people from Indianapolis, Houston and Amarillo Texas.  I'm confused as to how I should be setting this up.

Thank you.

You only need the code in receive if there is interference from another repeater on the same channel. Ussing no code for receive means you will hear all transmissions on that frequency. It's always better to leave the code out of receive except for specific instances with co-channel traffic.
