0027647221 Posted September 4, 2022 Report Posted September 4, 2022 Hi All total Noob here. I recently got a Midland MTX275. I am running the standard magnet antenna. I have had my license for a few years now, but have never really delved into GMRS. I have a couple of questions regarding the setup of the MTX275. I turned on the repeater channels in the menu. From there here is my understanding (probably wrong). 1. If I locate a repeater on frequency 462.600 - that is channel 17RP. Correct? 2. Do I enter the repeater tone in the TC or RC portion of the Repeater channel menu for the frequency? I think I have been getting a response from the repeater, but I get no acknowledgement from anyone. I am also in the Chicago area and I hear people from Indianapolis, Houston and Amarillo Texas. I'm confused as to how I should be setting this up. Thank you. Quote
BoxCar Posted September 4, 2022 Report Posted September 4, 2022 What does the repeater listing show? Typically, you need to enter the tone shown for the repeater in the TC slot. Don't worry about a receive tone, it isn't neeed. 0027647221 1 Quote
0027647221 Posted September 4, 2022 Author Report Posted September 4, 2022 Thank you. The repeater shows input tone of 156.7, which I looks like to me means to put # 25 in the TC slot? Thank you! Quote
gortex2 Posted September 4, 2022 Report Posted September 4, 2022 Correct code 25 is 156.7. Be advised that will be both TX and RX in the radio. 0027647221 1 Quote
BoxCar Posted September 4, 2022 Report Posted September 4, 2022 You only need the code in receive if there is interference from another repeater on the same channel. Ussing no code for receive means you will hear all transmissions on that frequency. It's always better to leave the code out of receive except for specific instances with co-channel traffic. 0027647221 1 Quote
