Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm new to GMRS, love the forum as I have already learned some new things and find lots of good stuff.

I'm very frustrated trying to get on the air as here in Orlando,FL. GMRS seems not to be that popular, and the lack of repeaters on my area keeps me at a short range. Driving around I was able to open one or two repeaters but not able to communicate. I'm wondering if I have not programmed the radios properly and the tones are incorrect. There are discrepancies between the tones published here are those on RadioReference.com any advise in relation to this?

Thanks,

AS said which repeaters ? And how do you know you cannot communicate ?

Orlando 650 and 700 are the ones I know of looking at the mygmrs map. Whats on RR is most likely inaccurate, but anyway we need more info.

sorry I believe the repeaters were pulled from a list provided by a Facebook group and not RadioReference, my mistake.

Still needing help where to obtain more info about tones and how to program the radios as when I receive approvals to use a particular repeater I don't know if I should program the radio as tone only or T Sql, I'm using a Wouxun KG-UV9G PRO and a mobil base Wouxun KG-1000G.

"Tone" is Tx only, to open the repeater squelch, but you will hear any traffic on the Rx frequency.

"T Sql" is Tx/Rx, it will send the tone to the repeater, but will also require the repeater to send the Rx tone to your radio.

"Tone" is safe when initially configuring. When you know you are hitting the repeater you can then consider "T Sql" mode.
