WRUR653 Posted September 29, 2022 Report Posted September 29, 2022 Our car club did a group drive in the mountains last weekend. We were all within a mile range and used FRS walkie talkies (Ch5) Everything worked great, we were able to communicate, turns, street lights if someone didn't make it to the leader and if someone had a problem. I used a Beofeng GM15 pro and lent a couple blister pack Cobra radios to those that didn't have one. Seemed like the cheapo ones worked out just fine. Apparently, others are doing the same thing. Good to keep one of these in the Glove Box! WRAL228 and marcspaz 2 Quote
marcspaz Posted September 29, 2022 Report Posted September 29, 2022 That's greoffloading. My car club uses them for cruises, too. A lot of people use them for off-roading. I've been pleased with my Baofeng radios as well as the Cobra and Uniden blister pack radios. Quote
