Help with UV-9G

I recently started with GMRS and bought a UV-9G. I thought I set it up right using CHIRP, but I still haven't been able to communicate with anyone. Can some one help me? Does anyone know of a club in New York City?

How do you know you know its setup wrong ? NYC is a mess when it comes to GMRS. Not sure what "club" your looking for but sure there is a ham club somewhere there.

Are you hearing anyone on your channels?  If yes, have you tried communicating with them?  Could be they are setup with CTCSS/DCS codes so they don't hear you...

The UV-9G is a good little radio.  I have a GMRS-9R which is it's twin sister.
