Channels 15-22 allow for a maximum 50 watts on simplex so long as no repeater in the area is using it as the output frequency. Luish19779 1 Quote

You have to do some monitoring to determine this if you’re looking to reach out to chat with others, you’ll have listen to determine which channel they are using for chat. The answer is specific to your immediate area so any info from those of us not in your backyard is not relevant or reliable. WRVT893 1 Quote
0 WRUU653 Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 I would think it depends on what you consider good. For me that means less traffic and as MichaelLAX pointed out more possible watts if needed. Really whatever comes in good and is open to communication to whoever you are communicating with.
