My gmrs repeater

What am I doing wrong with my gmrs repeater when I talk on a radio the on the other radio the volume or audio is low I have my radio set to wide band is there anything else I can do?

Bring the mic closer to your mouth. Some radios have crap mics or the hole needs to be drilled out. Some just need a gain adjustment to get the ideal deviation.

How far is the mic from your mouth? What radio/hand mic.

The radio I was using is a midland mxt 400 it was about 2 to 3in away from my mouth.

Yes.

Try unplugging the mic and make sure it seats properly. I have had problems with rj11 and rj45 connectors with boots. Where they aren't fully seated and the mic acts funny.
