When I key up the KG-1000G and just hold the key in I can hear a scratching kind of sound being transmitted to another receiver. SWRs are 1.01, I've replaced the coax and NMO mount, moved the mount and antenna to the rooftop of my truck, and replaced the data cable from the head unit to the transmitter as it had gotten mashed. The noise is still there. Any helpful suggestions would be..... well helpful. LOL! TIA

Just curious, how far away is this other receiver, and what is it? A handheld? Another mobile radio? A scanner?

Steve,

The noise is still there and takes away from my voice clarity. I'm hoping that it is the microphone as I just ordered one today.

I would suspect that the problem is either I. The microphone, mike cable, or in the mike jack, but it’s really hard to tell from a forum post.  Sometimes those little spring fingers in the RJ-11 jacks pop out of their slots causing problems. Sometimes wires break or the insulation pulls apart, leaving the wires to rub together and make noise. And sometimes itnone of the above but a bad solder joint on a circuit board.  Hopefully the new mike will take care of it.
