Except for the cousin-spouse thing. That was meant as pure sarcasm. There's a reason that people say navigating the website and actually getting to pay the fees is passing the GMRS test. How is this complicated? It’s very specifically defined. Is there any way to misinterpret it? (2) Any individual who holds an individual license may allow his or her immediate family members to operate his or her GMRS station or stations. Immediate family members are the licensee's spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. I thought the cousin-wife thing was funny. WRUU653 1 Quote

I thought the cousin-wife thing was funny. In my case, my wife and daughter are about as far as my call sign goes. If we have family from out of state visiting, we'll likely just hand them an FRS radio and call it good. I do kinda wonder why they excluded cousins, but step-children and step-parents are not. But again, that's more of a curiosity than an actual concern. I have plenty of FRS radios to pass around if need be. Quote

WRZI217 Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 The "bloodline" interpretation works for farms. Often farm families live in different houses within either simplex or repeater range. All three of my sons live within two miles of me, each with their own household. All use my license and identify themselves with my ID + a modifier. This is legal an well within the intent of GMRS. It says family members can operate your station(s), So, to me that means if they have their own station(s). they need their own license. My wife and I have HT's and one license we both use, and we're legal. WRQC527 1 Quote
Darmie Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 If Spouse A bought two radios and allowed Spouse B to operate one of the two radios, how would Spouse A & B best identify while using the one family license communicating with one another? OR Does it really matter? Quote
BoxCar Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Doesn't matter as long as the primary call sign is given as required. Quote
