Webslinger Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 So, I was under the impression that the antenna on the Wouxun KG-Q10G or H was not removable due to the FCC requirements on the GPS feature of the radio. Is that not correct? I have watched a couple of YouTube channels that had the antenna off, or replaced it with an aftermarket antenna. Quote
WRYZ926 Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 The Q10G antenna is removable. A friend has the Q10G and his antenna is removable. He sometimes uses a Nagoya 771G antenna on his. The Q10H comes with two antennas, one for 2m and 70cm and the other for 1.25m and 6m. You must switch the antennas when going from 2m/70cm to 1.25m/6m bands. Wouxun is pretty good about locking down their GMRS certified radios so that they cannot be unlocked. I have yet to see a way to unlock the Q10G or any other Wouxun GMRS radio. The Q10H on the other hand can be unlocked for GMRS channels making it essentially a 5 band radio. WRZF838, Webslinger and WRUU653 3 Quote
WRWE456 Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 Just looked it up on "Buy Two Way Radios" The H (ham) version has removable antenna's (comes with two) but the GMRS has a non removable antenna. I personally do not like that. Webslinger 1 Quote

OffRoaderX Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 The Q10G antenna is not supposed to be removable and it is glued on. Mine had only a tiny drop of glue so it was very easy to remove the antenna, but I have seen reports from dozens of people who could not remove theirs and a couple that even broke the antenna or the housing trying to remove it. I dont know about the Q10H because I don't have a H.A.M. license so I'm not allowed to touch one. Webslinger, WRWY570 and SteveShannon 1 2 Quote
