WRVM969 Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 What is the proper procedure for communicating on a repeater with family members that share a call sign? Quote
BoxCar Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 Talk to them just like you would on a phone call. "WRVM969 <Person being called's name> are you on?" As you are both under the same call sign, only one needs to give the call sign. WSCF396, WRYW366, WSBT338 and 1 other 4 Quote
Shawn0331 Posted June 11 Report Posted June 11 Call sign is required on Simplex and Repeater operations correct? Quote
SteveShannon Posted June 11 Report Posted June 11 Every station is required to ID once every 15 minutes and at the end of the conversation whether you’re on a repeater or simplex. You are not required to identify as different units when the call sign is shared amongst family members, but you might want to. In reality very few people follow the identification rules and nobody has died as a result. WRYZ926, WSBT338, amaff and 4 others 7 Quote
LeoG Posted June 11 Report Posted June 11 That was actually a question I had and forgot to ask. Glad someone else asked it. I have about 8 family members I have handed out HTs to in case a SHTF event. Programmed them all to a couple of high power repeaters that are in range but using HTs to them is sort of a push because they are 17 and 21 miles away. The work but modulation strength is weak. Usually I'm the one initiating things so I'm the guy pushing the call sign. Quote
