Fishnfever Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 Did they take it down because of the New York Alliance Network bs or what? I don't hear the repeaters from the northern part of the state that I have been listening to and talking on. I live just a few miles north of the border in Missouri and ever since the Alliance story it went dark. Quote
gortex2 Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 Many folks have dropped their links over that and other stuff. GMRS was never meant to be long distance communications. Raybestos 1 Quote

It just seems like overkill to go totally dark. Raybestos and WRXB215 2 Quote
gortex2 Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Did you reach out to them and ask what is up ? I'm not sure what group had those on the air but maybe they have other issues. Quote

I usually just listen to the repeater in Green Forest AR and sometimes talk to some on it but I am not in any of their clubs or anything. The group it was part of is Arkradio.net and I have been watching the web page but I haven't seen any news yet about it. Maybe I will shoot an email to them and see but I kind of feel out of place since I am in MO and not really part of the group that is usually on the system. But I do like to listen and maybe jump in from time to time and chat. Here in MO we don't have much of a GMRS system except for a couple of local repeaters with one of those a new one that just started in Branson so not much traffic on it yet and another one that is permission only supposedly but they list the code on Mygmrs.com so I don't know about it and I can't hear it from where I am anyway. gortex2 Posted June 29 Report Posted June 29 GF550 shows online on the map. Thats not saying that its really working. Did you try there facebook page and ask what may be up ? They also have a link page - https://network.arkradio.net/link.php?nodes=1000 May be worth digging around on stuff. https://network.arkradio.net/map Quote

I don't have Facebook to check that way with them. I will just keep listening around and hopefully they will come back around because it was a smoking repeater. I was into it from my house about 50 miles away and even could get into it from the mobile with one of the little short 4" dual band stubby antennas and about 20 watts. At least it had some ragchewing on it quite a bit unlike the repeaters in my immediate area. I might contact them through the web page and see if they plan to get it going again. Anyways good talking to you, 73s. Quote
WRBK701 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 We haven't taken anything down. There may be an issue with the machine but we're full steam ahead otherwise.. amaff, SteveShannon and Fishnfever 1 2 Quote

There may be an issue with the machine but we're full steam ahead otherwise.. OK cool! I was just wondering because I can't get the Green Forest 550 to come up and I can't hear anything from it so I figured it was taken down since all of the hoopla in NY. It's strange that I can't at least hear it since it is always a powerhouse to count on and even in the Branson area, which is a little closer to the 550 repeater than my house, but I still can't get it when I had no problems before. Maybe it's just the conditions or something. Hopefully the new Branson one on 575 will take off as it seems to get pretty good coverage from the Shepherd of the Hills tower. Anyway 73s I will be listening for 550 again since it's about the only GMRS ragchewing in the area. Quote
Fishnfever Posted July 10 Author Report Posted July 10 An update on the Green Forest 550 machine that I heard just now on the Harrison 600 machine is that the antenna came down in a storm a few days ago, so I guess I now know what is going on with it. Hope they get it back up soon and maybe even better than it was, if that's possible considering the coverage it had.
