Socalgmrs
at the end of a transmission or a series of transmissions, and at least once every 15 minutes for a series lasting more than 15 minutes. This is all the fcc requires. After that it’s totally up to. I just ID and talk if it’s simplex. Now a repeater owner or club may require/ask for more but above is all the fcc requires

WRVD881
If I understand correctly they can use my call sign as long as they or myself attach their name to it when transmitting or receiving?
gortex2
Are you calling them on a repeater ? or simplex. Just call them by name. thats 99% of my traffic on GMRS/FRS. People get worked up over it and its not critical. Use it at the 15 minute time frame and use the service.

I’m using a repeater. Yes, but attaching a name is just a convenience for you, not a requirement. Your family is only required to say “wrvd881” and many people don’t even do that. So you can call someone by saying “ Suzy, this is dad.” as long as you use wrvd881 at the end of the conversation (not every sentence) and once every 15 minutes. This is exactly how I do it when talking to my kids (because they haven't yet mastered the call sign...). SteveShannon

LeoG
Usually on the repeater I will start out with the call sign and then ask for who I'm looking for (family member). They're pretty non radio and rarely say the call sign. My wife will usually say the numbers at the end. Since it's a shared license I just do all the sign callouts for us. When we finish I will say call sign and WE are on the side or WE are out. What's funny is now the people on the repeater are recognizing me. I called out for the wife and got no response. I hear in the background 373 is on from someone to the owner repeater. He's going home now. I laughed and then talked to the guy on the way back to my shop and then another 5 minutes after I got there. He got into a bad area just as I was signing on the side.
