UV-5R CHIRP settings not on radio

I have set up and sent this repeater CHIRP setting to the UV-5R Radio and comm is working to another radio:

 

When go to that channel and go to menu it appears those settings are not uploaded for the 5.00000 offset and duplex +:

 

 

Tone settings are in the menu:

 

 

Is this a bug and I should ignore the menu and assume it is programmed correctly if uploaded to radio via CHIRP? Or is it in fact not sending the offset and duplex settings?

That’s how it shows up.  It is correct.  When in doubt just try it out.  If it works it works.  Just make sure you in range and have line of sight.

That is a bug then. Kinda sucks because in the field it would make it hard to share settings with my friend's radio and visa versa not knowing which setting do and do not show correctly.

Also, I am  thinking just cause it worked to my other UV-5R does not mean its correct.  It could mean both radios are Tx and Rx on same frequency and not going through the repeater?

You also need to ensure you are on a repeater channel and not a simplex one.

It’s a 5r according to the original post.  So no repeater channels.

All (should be all) repeaters on gmrs should be +5 so keep that in mind when sharing set ups with friends.   It it what it is.  It’s not a bug its just the way it is.

That  +- that shows up on the top of the display is showing up only when an offset is set. I agree it'd be nice if you could see your settings. One other longer way to see is that you can download your .img back into Chirp and it'll show the settings.

The UV5R is an odd duck. Since I only really program mine with CHIRP, I had to actually get mine out and see what happens when I program a channel. In VFO mode, if I set a repeater frequency with the offset of 5 Mhz and the direction as +, the shift direction and offset both show up in the menu settings, and the display shows +. But as soon as I save it in a memory and view the memory settings in MR mode, the offset shows 0.000, the offset direction is "Off", and the display changes from - to +-, indicating that an offset is saved. So your radio is acting, well, normally. Somewhere, deep in China, there is a code writer who declared that this is how it would be, so this is how it is.

You can verify that the radio is indeed transmitting with an offset by switching the display through Menu items 21 for MDF-A and and 22 for MDF-B to "FREQ", then watch the display when you transmit. You should see the receive frequency jump 5Mhz higher on transmit.

UV-5R (and similar Baofeng models) has a Reverse button, the asterisk "*", that lets you see the transmit frequency when display is set to FREQ.
