WRDU469 Posted September 9 Report Posted September 9 Besides the BTech RPT50 repeater. Who else makes a GMRS repeater with built in duplexer, auto-ID, internal power supply and >40watt output? I am just looking at options to be the most inclusive and simple to use, but not have to buy multiple components to get it all functioning. Btech has the features I am looking for but want be sure I explore all options. Any other suggestions to research? Quote
OffRoaderX Posted September 9 Report Posted September 9 AFAIK nobody else makes a "Part 95 GMRS Repeater" Your best bet would be to look at LMR/UHF/H.A.M. repeaters. None of them are simple to use, but the RPT50 IS simple to use.. as long as it works. Raybestos and gortex2 2 Quote

I would think that once you get to the point where you NEED a repeater you would, want to / be able to, learn how to set up a good one. I know a few people running the ammo box 40w Motorola repeaters from eBay. They have everything included in the box and are already programmed for one set of tones and 1 repeater pair. If you want to change something you would have to learn to program Motorolas or send it back. Or have some one local do it. The radios are great but the duplexer in the box is not the best. Other than that building a good repeater is not easy and takes knowledge and learning. Quote

Though we did buy it without the built in duplexer since we had a better duplexer on hand. Bridgecom will program it for you with what ever GMRS repeater channel and tones you want. Programming is pretty simple with their software. JamesBrox and Raybestos 2 Quote

MidnightMan Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 Avoid Bridgecom like the plague. Their stuff is utter junk. See if you can find a used Hytera RD982 or similar. They go for a good price on Ebay and are rock solid machines. Been running one on my VHF system for two years now and have had ZERO issues out of it. Raybestos 1 Quote
WRYZ926 Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 Time will tell how the Bridgecom repeater holds up. So far we have not had any issues and we tested it by pushing it before opening it up to the public. It has handled everything we threw at it to include a high duty cycle. The repeater has been up and running for a year now. Raybestos, gortex2, GreggInFL and 2 others 5 Quote
Flameout Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 They are old, but an Icom IC-FR4000 has all of those options. Or maybe a Motorola MTR2000? Sometimes new isn't necessarily better Raybestos 1 Quote
