I live near Orange Beach Al. i am trying to set up my radio to use repeaters near me using chirp. i have read many posts here and watched many videos and still can't get it to work. i even tried it manually by the instruction book. i have been given permission to use these repeaters. i would just like to have these setup in case everything goes sideways next week.Sorry to ask because this has been brought up so many times but i am out of luck other wise. Any help would be so much appreciated , Eddie

Maybe if you told us what kind of radio you have... and..maybe.. if you told us what steps you are taking.. and.. MAYBEEE.. if you told us what exactly is not working..or what happens.. or really, any detail at all.. .. then.. maybe.. just maybe.. someone could help..

But otherwise, welcome to the forum!

Try this:

Go to Channel 25 (or it may be listed as Channel 17Repeater) and enter the Tone of 123.0 on your output (transmitting) side only.

Go outside and/or drive closer to the  GCR 600 Perdido Beach Repeater and transmit a "repeater check" and ask them if anyone can hear you.

Good luck!

UPDATE: Or Channel 28 (or Channel 20Repeater) and same 123.0 tone for the GCR 675 ORANGE BEACH  Repeater and try that.

Thanks for the replies, I am using a baofeng ar-5rm radio i have it set to462.675 the settings in chirp are tone mode tsql, tone squelch 123 duplex + offset 5.000

Change tone mode to Tone, rather than TSQL.

When you transmit it should show that you’re transmitting on 467.675 MHz.

You should be able to tell if you are connecting with the repeater because it will transmit back to you for a second or longer and then make a squelch burst.  If you hear that you've connected and maybe no one is there to hear you.

If you hear the kerchunk on a repeater and no one answers, does the repeater really exist?😁
