5 MHz Split

I am attempting to program a repeater that does not have the standard +5Mhz into my radios. The radios I  own, a Radioddity GM-30 and DB20G do not seem to allow this and the seeming lack of documentation is perplexing. I have been advised that this is a specific radio issue and it is also a FCC requirement for gmrs radios... Another internet and word of mouth conundrum ie: pain. Thanks for any clarification, information and or documentation

 

BTW any thoughts on Wouxon KG805G radio's quality, durability and reception and transmissions. Hope that covers it all.....

Just based on those two sentences I hope more db20g questions are asked in the technical discussions forum. There’s absolutely nothing special about your advice. Why would we kowtow to you?

Yes Sir that is the way these radios work. Managed to successfully do that, but thought that there might be a way to do a non-standard offset. I recognize that possible work a-rounds are not worth the effort at my current stage of usage.

Absolutely none of this is your fault.  You asked sincere questions that belonged in the technical discussion forum.  People answered.  The way it’s supposed to work is that people vote up the best answer and vote down wrong answers.  Then, when a person reads the question later they get the highest quality answer at the top instead of having to read through three or twelve pages hoping that one of the answers is correct.

The system actually works well and helps people find peer reviewed answers quickly when people use it as intended and has worked well for years, but sometimes we end up with a couple of knuckleheads who don’t like it and end up consistently at the bottom of the pile. Or sometimes people mark down posts based on who posted rather than the quality of the answer.

Personally, I like being able to sort by votes, but I wish the default was sort by date simply to avoid the whining by 709 or better yet allow each person to determine in their profile which way they wanted to see the sorting.

You were right that the “proper expression of opinions could be done in much better ways”. A criticism and or observation I will take, regardless if it was directed at me or not. Life is too short to argue with strangers on the internet and who knows what struggles they may be having in their own life.

Apology accepted but not required. The paraphrase of the comment was me shouting to the world to stop the arguing about stuff. Together we stand, divided we fall. People do put different amounts of importance differently. Maybe together we could come to a reasonable consensus, or not! A Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all that are not just looking forward to a black Friday Sale.

Loads of radios Atleast same quality for much less money. It’s just a radio like all other radios.  It will rx and tx exactly the same as a radio 1/5th the price

I’m on simplex and repeaters Atleast 12 hours every day 7 days a week. I talk on average 20 miles many times 50plus miles.   No one knows if I’m using a $20ht and a $150ht or a $5000ht.  You’ll learn kore as you actually use multiple radios over 30plus years.     They all tx and rx exactly the same.  The ONLY difference is battery life and I can upgrade any radios battery for small and light or big and heavy.
