Anysecu WP-9900: Update - Not as good as I thought

So...my radio suddenly and for no apparent reason, decided to stop transmitting. I even tried a reset to factory configuration but unfortunately, no dice. I'm really disappointed because I liked this little radio. However, as I've said before, quality control on inexpensive Chinese radios can be spotty. Maybe you'd get one that soldiers on for years. I always know when I go the cheap route that something like this may happen, so I'm not as upset as I would be if I had paid double or triple the price for it. I still really like the form factor with all the controls in the spkr/mic, and if I can find another one like that, I'll probably try it. I just got a Ham license, so I don't want a GMRS-specific one. I'll keep looking.

You might get one that's just fine. I haven't seen or read any reviews that reported this problem. I'm writing it off to a QC issue.

One of my Wouxun KG-XS20Gs just quit on me.  It's on the way back for testing and likely replacement.  160 day is what it lasted.  So far the 2nd one is still going strong.

I had the BTech GMRS version of this radio and...yeah. That matches up with my experiences pretty well. Tho mine stopped receiving anything.

I really wanted to like the 'everything in the handset' concept. And, as a concept, I do. But this implementation is trash, unfortunately, for so many reasons.

Mine sits in a radio junk box in the garage. Terrible transmit audio is the biggest issue. It also reads low voltage until I turn it off and on a few times. I really like the concept, but sadly, this radio completely missed the mark.

I have been using my WP990 daily for over 3 years with no issues. I got the first one sold in the USA. I see  that iut can do GNRS so I am adding those freqs this weekend  and listen around here in Indy to see if worth buying a dedicated gmrs 50 watt mobile

Have you tried the kinetic reset yet? The procedure is generally listed in the back of the manual and very rarely printed in English. When all else fails, I generally take the radio with the power switch on and rap it against the work bench with moderate force. Sometimes it might take several tries. If that fails, take a 20 oz. framing hammer and tenderize it for about 3 minutes. While doing this don't forget to recite a few scriptures from the good book. And lastly, if it's still stubborn, just throw it against the sidewalk and walk away smiling as you finally got the last word in.

Yeah, a framing hammer taught my left thumb a lesson it will never forget.
