cbeam2 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Does anyone have a recommendation for a window mount antenna to use HT in car? Quote
wayoverthere Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago (edited) There is a Nagoya version out there with sma connectors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124178030161 (not recommended per @Lscott 's experience with this type) Rugged Radios ses one with a nmo base, but will likely need a no ground plane antenna: https://www.ruggedradios.com/products/suction-cup-antenna-mount American radio supply has a couple others too: https://www.americanradiosupply.com/window-glass-mounts/ Edited 6 hours ago by wayoverthere edit with other's experience Quote

I have something similar, but with a BNC connector on the end. There is no ground plane resulting in a bad SWR match. The crappy coax shield is used as the other half of the dipole. wayoverthere 1 Quote

I think if I were going this route, it'd probably be the rugged for the ability to use a no ground antenna. Quote
nokones Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I have very good luck with a Larsen Glass-Mount antenna. My VSWR on 462 megs is about 1.2:1 and 1.6:1 on 467 megs. https://www.arcantenna.com/products/pulse-larsen-kg450udpl-glass-mounted-whip-antenna Quote

They were cellular look-likes and they had them in the VHF, UHF, and of course the 800 bands. Those were the days when cellular was only 800 Megs. Quote
