WRPL862 Posted Sunday at 03:26 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:26 PM Is this a typo or am I missing something? Quote
WRXB215 Posted Sunday at 03:43 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:43 PM It is a GMRS radio so you can't use the VFO to transmit. It will only transmit on the GMRS specific frequencies. Quote
WRPL862 Posted Sunday at 03:58 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 03:58 PM Would 462 or 467 not be between 400-479? UHF? Quote

They mean that their VFO can continuously tune those frequency ranges for receive only. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t transmit on the GMRS channels. Quote

GMRS is a "channelized" service. As such the frequencies it's allowed to transmit on are hard coded into channels. When in Memory(channel) mode, you are locked down to transmitting on only the approved frequencies and are therefore allowed to transmit. In VFO mode, you have virtually infinite frequency adjustment in the band as Steve indicated. That is why you can only listen in with VFO mode but you can transmit in Memory mode. Quote
WRPL862 Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM I am considering it for a mobile radio since it is not chip based and has better sensitivity control. I do like the fact the face control can be remote. it would be the #1 seller if it were tx on all bands offered for SHTF or if someone were to get the ham license. for a base I am looking for a quad band open for tx on all bands including GMRS. WRYZ926 Posted Monday at 01:28 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:28 AM The Kg-1000G Plus is based off of the KG-UV980P with a few physical changes and a different locked down firmware. I have not messed with the UV980P so I don't know if it can be unlocked. Quote
