Anyone else not able to get into the website to check the system for updated licenses almost like they are attempting to stop all new licenses from being generated.

It they are not issuing new licenses then the free for all to get up on the air will be chaos.

Yes - last night I was trying to look up someone's GMRS callsign that he posted on X so I could DOX him, and I keep getting the same error.

You weren't trying to call your minions in his part of the country to coordinate their burglarizing efforts,  since his X post made him obviously not home to defend the place?

14:04 Central ... Still down

I didn't have any issues. I did a lookup, and even logged in, no problem. Those errors are pretty frequent however. That website either needs more backend horsepower or more bandwidth or something as frequently over the years I get timeouts and the error shown in the 1st post. It's very random as to whose request go thru and who gets an error.

Being that I build datacenters I would give you that if this was a mom and pop shop that paid for the cheapest package at rackspace or WIX but this has been every hour on the hour since 3/9/2026.  (I have a script running check this crap every hour) The main FCC site is up with the non-sense they are changing on it up there, but the meat and potatoes ULS DB being down from every Server, PC and MAC I have access to across the world tells me that they are purposely keeping it down.  And if that is the case what happens to anyone that is trying to get their licenses upgraded or new licenses. Are they just going to be black holed.  That isn't going to stop any of us from getting on the air. And now I can tell my friends to stand back and stand by as it looks like they might not have to bother taking any of the tests to or register any more to do any of this.

So that just leaves all of us that have done the thing exposed with out info out there for the yahoos to do with what they wish.

Like the "joke" the first commenter made.

In any event, I have people waiting on license notifications and of all times for them to dick around they do it now.

I had no problems looking up license information an hour ago or so.

yeah still nothing.

I will come at it from Kentucky or Texas and see if they are just dropping connections from certain geographic locations like I did yesterday. Cuz they might just only like you. LOL

Maybe they blocked you.

Is there something in particular you’d like me to look up?IMG_4628.thumb.png.5f6d0375884d77a931d7ce32bccddc3a.png

Not yet let me see how much time it takes them to block me from Texas...lol  Now that I am in from there.  But you might be right someone might have nothing better to do.

If you’re attempting a db read or worse extract every hour they may have blocked you thinking that you’re testing for a denial of service attack.

I just looked up my GMRS and amateur call signs and the FCC website worked just fine. THeir website has always been flaky. Sometimes it works and other times it will time out.

It did take a few seconds longer for the system to pull up my amateur license. But there is also a bigger database for amateur licenses compared to GMRS licenses.

It's been a few moons since I messed with data bases. But I would some of the issues with the FCC website depends on how many people are trying to access the system all at once. I do agree that the FCC system definitely needs improvements.

It was down in yesterday morning when I saw this post, back up in the afternoon. The FCC data base is and has been SLOW for a long time. I just looked up my call and it took 11 seconds. I ran a query of all active licensed GMRS users in my town (92 of of them) and it took 10 seconds. Weird.

Edited:

Just for fun I ran a query for all new GMRS licenses sorted by Grant Date in the last 1 year. Left off Call Sign, Name and FRN from screenshot. 28 in total. What I found odd is that we normally see 2-4 new licenses a month. Only 2 so far this year.
