Tidradio h3 Plus gmrs radio possible glitchy formware?

Question

Posted

Hi everyone. I'm new at radios so please be patient with me. I just got a tidradio h3 plus gmrs radio. I want to program a custom repeater on channel 26. It's already the frequency i want to use. The rx is 462.625. The repeater has an offset of +5. And rx and tx tones are 141.3, i've tried both wide and narrow bands. What happens is when i go to transmit on channel 26 with those settings it says "canceled". I'm sing  the odmaster android app. I've tried doing factory reset and starting all over a few time with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd sure appreciate it

1) Are you in GMRS mode?
2) How did you set the offset?
3) Does it do this right after you do the factory reset and you try to transmit on channel 26, before you've touched any settings?

An h3 with issues?  Really? No way.  It must be Friday… or Monday or any day.   I’ve heard the “formware” isn’t very good.

Are there any current manufactured type accepted gmrs radios that you can recommend?

Check that your radio is in fact set to GMRS mode and not Ham. It may not transmit on gmrs frequencies if it is set to Ham mode.

Can you post a screen-grab of what channel 26 looks like either through the ODMaster app or Chirp, if you're using it? That'd be the simplest way to actually see what the radio is trying to do.

You do know this is a beta radio, correct? It is a hot mess. Unless you like testing out unfinished products (some of us do), return it and get something that is more finished.

It uses a different chipset than the standard H3. They should have picked a different model designation, it is only loosely related to the original H3.

What firmware are you using? This apparently was corrected in FW 1.19 but would not surprise me if it broke in a later FW. Each release has broken something.
The latest as of 4/21/2025 is 1.23 which was released 4/18/2025 and the 7th update in a month.
