Retevis RT97L Repeater - Has Anyone Here RF-linked Them?
WRTC928 replied to marcspaz's topic in General Discussion
It's an interesting idea. I'd also like to know how it works in practice. -
I don’t think Frank is running a Mac at all. He has only spoken about running Linux.

I was thinking that too.....I may update with the make and model when I get home.

Sounds like a crappy duplexer or it's not tuned correctly. That' about a 3dB loss when it should be on the order of 1.5dB or less, 1.2dB being typical of a normal mobile 6 cavity duplexer.

If the tool box itself is aluminum, bolt on or 3M 5200 a round piece of ferrous steel on top of the tool box. 3M 5200 is permanent. -
Have you tried using Editcp? Third party CPS software for the MD-380, 390, RT3S and a few others that claims to be able to upload/download and edit codeplugs to the radio via USB and runs under Linux native. https://www.farnsworth.org/dale/codeplug/editcp/

Fascinating stuff! Thank you all! Marc: In depth stuff, digging it. It is obvious now but didn't consider seasonality in that way. Leo: Yeah, I'm loosing on the order of about 20W giving me 24ish Watts out of a repeater outputting 48W. I have the ability to have 2 separate antennas with separation over several wavelengths. The rest of the crew: I hear ya, A solid, good/great antenna. I am working on that!

Mounting NMO antenna to aluminum truck cab?

Maybe it's just early and I'm not sufficiently caffeinated, but...six? Does that mean you had six different antenna on your truck? Which would mean that you had six different radios in your truck? What could possibly be the reason to have six radios in your truck? - Today

Mounting NMO antenna to aluminum truck cab?

I’ll see if I can find something like that I think it would help a lot. I did screw a 12 inch diameter pizza pan to the combine fiberglass roof and ran a grounding cable to the frame of the combine to try to limit noise. Farm equipment has so much interference it’s insane. If counterpoise truly means anything to these radios it would be a nightmare to bond anything on the machine -

Do you remember where you got those mounts at? They look clean and I’d only need one. Any issues with water infiltration in the cab after install? -
@TNFrank I haven’t tried it yet but qdmr seems promising and supports the RT3S, assuming the issue you’re running into is something with Wine/virtualization: https://dm3mat.darc.de/qdmr/

I have no interest in how you run Linux. Just thinking about it, gives me heart palpitations!! Please give me more details about this statement: I would like to recreate your workflow to see why you were not successful with Windows 10 in VirtualBox. Also, please link me to your download of VirtualBox, and let me know which version of OS X is on your Mac.

I'm running MX-Linux, 23.3 which is a Debian based Distro with the KDE Desktop environment. I've been on it for a few years now and it's the longest I've stuck with a Distro because it's been rock solid stable, the desktop environment is light weight and looks and works well and I can update my entire system with a couple simple commands in the Terminal. I'm sure it all had something to do with the way Linux handles devices vs the way an actual Windows install handles things.

So has anyone been able to unlock the BTECH GMRS PRO?

Welcome! Sounds like a nice collection of gear to start with, for sure. Its always fun to scan the channels and see what i hear when im traveling. Its always good to have some kind of radio on a common/popular radio service when you are someplace where cell service is spotty or non-existent, too.

I did a little coding when I was young, but I can’t imagine what aspect of a DMR CPS, which is fundamentally a relational database, is causing you such fits. But to be honest, I have no interest in Linux just to solve a puzzle when so many alternative solutions exist on my Mac that just work! Although I am a happy camper with Parallels, I am intrigued to solve your Virtualbox problem and attempt to install Win10 and then program my non-OpenGD77 DB-25D on it, so… Which flavor of OS X are you using and please link me the VirtualBox you downloaded to run in it, so I can emulate yiur setup and then attempt to get Win10 and DMR COS running in it! I will acknowledge that COM ports in Windows is a “dark science!!”

As far as the CPS for the MD UV380, I have used both it and the OpenUV380 CPS on a Mac, in Parallels, remotely accessed using RIM without any issues. I have also used RT Systems native Mac CPSes with various radios. All have worked. I don’t think your problem is the CPS software. I think it’s the translation between the hardware USB port in Unix and the port, whether USB or comport, in the Windows virtual machine.
-
I hear people talking on it but I have not been able to key it up in a few weeks now. Shaw 525 went down also about the same time. (HAM)
-
I downloaded a copy of Win10 and tried to install it in VirtualBox but VB couldn't read the activation code so it wouldn't install. It has been exhausting, I get excited about DMR only to be let down by CPS's that won't play nice with WINE. I've not had that problem with any of the CPS programs for the analog radios I have.

Thanks…will do. Stopping by Devil’s River and Seminole Canyon on the way. Looking forward to it.
