You had fire? That must have been invented later. -

Good work! I'm old enough to remember when making fire was enough to impress the spouse. -
There is zero chance of that happening. Even the most diehard 9mm owners love and respect The Lord's caliber.

Wouxun Mobile Magnet Mic Hanger defect description and fix

No doubt, the HLN9073 is the more elegant of the two designs. JJHXSM-like mic holders came with my Wouxuns mobiles. They are a little bendy, but useable. However, to use one in my particular car, it would require me to screw it to the dash or center console and suffer an awkward reach or create interference with other stuff. None of which are acceptable to me. The magnet solution, while imperfect, allows me to secure the mic to the radio's mounting bracket without effort or precision. Thanks for the information! -
The Red's records off of the carrier signal and not just the audio. As long as you have the transmit button down it will stay open (or until the timer times out).

Hey, I tried to drift the thread to .45 acp versus 9mm.

What fun would that be. Some of us look for stuff like that to "fix" for the heck of it. My wife was complaining that the new larger paper towel rolls wouldn't fit her holder. I said buy a new one, she like the existing one. So out to the garage, a full roll of the triples a tape measure and the appropriate sized drill bits. Less than five minutes. She's happy and I got to use tools. -
Though here's an interesting one. I'm down on the coast in Los Angeles. Went to the store and turned on my radio. I was picking up folks from Victorville and Barstow which is about 140 miles and over some relatively high (SoCal speaking) mountains. This was not off of a repeater. Radio waves can be some sneaky things. Can't hear someone a block away, but hear someone from over a hundred miles away.

The common GMRS openings I see in spring and fall happen around 8:00 Am to about 10:00 - 10:30 AM. And we do hear other repeater traffic on our repeaters when storms are near either us or the other repeaters.

I appreciate you telling me what I won't be happy with even after I have had satisfactory experiences.

Nice work. -
Hello W3AOL, How is your repeater working out? Is it getting much use? Nevin

Do be sure to state your preferred pronouns and ask those of the other person. It shows you are both “enlightened” and silly. I’m told this is also a good idea on Grindr, but I’ll defer to The Queen for clarification.

Of coarse this had to be a woxoun issue. this is how I solve this issue. $3 and solves the problem and the mic will never come out no matter how rugged the ride is. Same solution has been around for 50years No need to make gimmicky stuff that has to be modified out of the box -
There is no cop who will ask for a copy of your GMRS or Ham license. None. Never gonna happen.

Good info, but personally, I would have just replaced the screw. -
Ducting most commonly occurs associated with strong temperature inversions, either the strong night to day change around dawn or along storm fronts. I recall a few years ago consistently hearing a contact in Philadelphia PA for several spring mornings thorough central MD. Other times as storm fronts approached MD, hearing repeaters on Long Island discussing traffic on the LIE. If the long range signals persist mid day in stretches of calm weather, linking would be the main suspect.

There is a wallet card on all recent license documents from the FCC. It's below the "mini" license they provide nowadays.

I sure don't carry a copy of my amateur or GMRS licenses. I'll happily give them my call signs and they can look them up if they really want to.
