Because they would likely realize that anyone obsessive enough to look up their callsign, find their address, and write a letter for something so un-necessary is clearly a very socially unbalanced and possibly mentally-ill person.. that now knows where they sleep...

What @SteveShannon said. However, Baofeng Tech has branched out in recent years and are having some equipment made to their specifications by other companies. That's probably why they have kind of backed away from Baofeng Tech in favor of BTech. As a general rule, the Baofeng products they sell are a bit more expensive than from other suppliers, but they often have a couple of extra features and they do back up their products and provide support for them.

What Steve said, plus Baofeng the company is actually Pofung. Not that anyone in America cares as long as it still has Baofeng on the front label.

They are not the same company. Baofeng Tech is an American company formed to import and sell Baofeng radios. Their goal was to add value by providing on-shore service for the products they sell, unlike many of the other sellers of Baofeng.

He was pointing out the channels that he thought were in that range, all of them are 467MHz channels and none of the channels in the radio were 467MHz. His mistake was he looked after the decimal and matched up the 467MHz frequency when there are also 462MHz frequencies with the same decimal frequency. There are no .5 watt channels in the radio.

I’m not sure what you think he got wrong, and it’s certainly possible, but there are no 467 MHz range channels in FRS which allow 2 watts. 8-24 are in the 467 MHz range, but they’re limited to only 0.5 watts ERP. The 462 MHz channels 1-7 and 15-22 are two watts. The eight 467 MHz Main Channels in GMRS (generally reserved for repeater inputs, Fixed Stations, and short term testing) are not allowed in FRS.

Yes. If you don't have a flat metal surface to use as the ground plane then you need to use a non-ground plane type. Examples would be on a fiberglass boat or some people have off road Jeeps with a plastic cap or cloth cover for the cab. Generally no.

Other than one might look slightly better on paper, there's no real world advantage of one over the other in real world use. Too many other variables come to play such as mounting considerations, feed line, and the position of the stars on any given night. Best to install what works best for you intended use and not dwell too much over what the "experts" say.

The guy in the video made a mistake. He confused the 467Mhz channels with the 462Mhz channels with the same frequency past the decimal. As long as the radio is used on the 467Mhz frequencies the 2 watt output is legal. It might not even be capable of accessing those frequencies.

Could also be Wide Band vs Narrow Band. (You should use Narrow).

I have an SG7900 with the UHF mount too. I guess I should stick it on the roof rack and see how well it works. It might surprise me like the CA-2x4SR and NR240CA did.
