  2. I would say it's something in the KG-935 firmware as it doesn't matter if you have the G or H models or if it's the regular or plus models. I can say that the KG-Q10H does not beep when turning on or changing areas when you have the beep turned off in the menu. I don't have a KG-Q10G to test but I am willing to bet it will be the same as the KG-Q10H I checked my KG-XS20G Plus and it does not beep when turning on or changing the area. I checked since the menu and screen are the same as the KG-935G
  3. You can’t unless you’re a premium member. Don’t worry about it though. T-sql requires a tone on receive. Tone doesn’t. You can hear a repeater in T-sql IFF (IFF = if and only if) you have the correct rx tone programmed. If you use Tone you will hear everything on a frequency, regardless of if it includes a tone.
  4. I’m sorry I cannot give you the trophy and the laughing emoji both!
  5. I don't own this radio, but I have other Wouxun radios and they make noises on some functions, even with key beep off. For example, my KG-935G+ beeps when I initiate a channel scan, if I recall correctly.
  6. If you are replying to my post, you didn't read the pertinent part of the manual I posted. Look at the bottom for the IMPORTANT message.
  7. Today
  8. The KG-935G Plus does the same thing. Mine beeps at startup and when changing the area. And yes the beep is turned off in the menu.
  9. I found my answer. What I can't find is how to delete my post.... Jeff
  10. No mention of inverted codes. And all that needs to be done in a CPS, no chance of doing it through the radio, right?
  11. Yeah I don't like the power on noise either, but that one is easy to get around as your hand is already on the volume knob and I've gotten in the habit of just cracking it on, waiting 1s, then turning it up to normal volume so I never hear that. The UV8H has the power on music as well. The area change is different as you kinda need two hands to move the volume down, hit area, move volume back up. I doubt there will be a KG-935H+ as it's already the "plus" to the UV8H. They do change firmware over time though, you can see it in Chirp->settings->OEM Info pane mine is 935HV2.01 . I've seen this number change on the two UV8H's i've ordered about a year apart, one came with 1.03 and the other one a year later with 1.04 although I don't notice any difference, but there may be some bug that was corrected. Yes it's a great radio. The UV8H is a great radio and has been my main HT for several years. I wasn't gonna get a 935H but I was ordering an antenna and some connectors to fix my beam antenna coax a squirrel chewed up and somehow that 935H just slipped into my cart.
  12. Unfortunately it seems the volume knob is your only option on this. I've just got into the habit of using that. I agree it's a bit loud and unnecessary. We are not the only ones that think this and the start up tone are a bit much. If I was guessing they'll change this in the Plus model should one come out. I would hope anyway. Other than that I like this radio.
  13. And it's Socal with the Wouxun bash. BIG surprise. Nobody saw that coming. I'd have bet my next paycheck in Vegas but they don't take bets on your responding with a Wouxun bash because odds are 100%. At least your consistent with your unhelpful comments! Go ahead add it to your list of Phantom Wouxun/midland/baofang/yeasu/icom/motorola/tid/retevis/btech/anytone/brand X/brand Y/brandZ "problems" because we all know that the only radio you approve of is the one you have because nobody else could possibly make a radio that meets your demanding specifications...oh wait..I forgot, you don't actually own any radios because mommy took them away due to incessant SOS calling didn't she?
  14. If I select "Tone", I can get the Input tone but not the Output tone. If I select Tone, I can enter 131.8 but the output tone defaults to 67.0 hz. However, if I use T-Sql, I can set the input and output to 131.8. Which is correct? Tone or T-Sql? I am using RT Systems programmer, btw..... Jeff W Waldrop WRVH403
  15. One of the best manuals is the one that comes with Midland radios. Here is an example of just how up to date an informative Midland's manuals are.
  16. There are few areas where the 1.25m/220 MHz band is pretty active,. But those areas seem few and far between. I can only find one 1.25m repeater here in Missouri and it is permanently linked to a 2m repeater. There are two reasons why the 1.25m band is not more popular. One is that there are only two 50 watt mobile radios available on the market and both are from China. All the tri and quad band radios with 1.25m are limited to 5 or 10 watts max. Wouxun has released their KG-XS20H that is 20 watts on 220 MHz but they are not in stock at this time. The flip side is that the big three aren't interested in making a 1.25m radio with more than 5-10 watts since no one really uses the band and North America is the only market for it. It's a vicious circle. I have found that even expanded metal like what most hitch mounted luggage racks are made of makes a good ground plane for the 2x4SR. I cut down one of these racks to fit the back of my SxS and have the 2x4SR on a Midland mag mount on the rack and it works well. I'm using a 20 watt radio on the SxS.
  17. A woxoun with an issue? Strange. That never happens.
  18. Ya, lithium ion and other lithium derivative batteries have an onboard Battery Maintenance System to make sure the cells stay balanced and don't go over any specs. Prevents over charging and bad events such as fires and explosions. It's what turns the charging off when the battery is full.
  19. Actually I call it the UV8H+. Does anyone know of a way to turn off the very loud beep during area change? I have keypad beeps off, voice guide off. But the area change beep remains. As much as this is a good upgrade over the UV8H, that area change beep is nearly a showstopper for me. The only noise I want my radio making is from an incoming RX signal. Over the UV8H this is a welcome update, much better menu options, 1.25m capable (there's a 220 repeater near me too!), can assign both side option keys with many more options instead of just being able to assign just one of the two on the UV8H with only three options, more screen themes, weather alerts, weather mode instead of having to program the weather freq in memory channels, USB-C charging (albiet with slightly diminished battery capacity) . An excellent update. But that area change beep I can't get over. It's very loud too even at the lowest volume setting. I tend to use area change quite a bit. Anyone know of a way to shut that off as I'm not seeing one. Does the 935G+ do this too even if keypad beeps are off? The UV8H and 935G don't make this noise during area change if keypad beeps are off.
  20. Found another "trick". Didn't find this in the manual even though I'm sure it's in there. Figured it out before I could find it. I was programming a DCS inverted tone when I noticed it wasn't like the KG XS20G+ again. With that radio you just cycle through them. It goes normal tones and then inverted tones. with the 1000+ it just shows you the normal tones and when you get to the end just starts over, never showing you the inverted tones. I know I can program it in the CPS so I did that. And when I cycled through the inverted tones it stayed there never showing the normal tones. So played with the keyboard and the "#" swaps between normal and inverted.
  21. But then I wouldn't get to watch my pitbull bite their leg off on my surveillance cameras.
  22. The one in Oklahoma City appears unused, but I'm trying to breathe some life back into it. The problem is that people ignore it because nobody uses it, but if everyone ignores it, there will never be any activity on it. I do know a guy who said he and his wife use it to stay in touch when they go to the state fair in the fall, so I guess it isn't completely devoid of life. I throw out my call sign every time I'm within range but haven't gotten a response yet. However, Tulsa has four 1.25m repeaters which get quite a bit of use, and I travel there fairly often, so I want to have that capability.
  23. Since it seems to have worked for you, I'll give it a try. It's the only antenna I have that has good readings on 2m, 70cm, GMRS, MURS, and 1.25m. It has good signal on 70cm, GMRS, and 2m; I've never keyed up on MURS since I had a pair of MURS radios about 12-15 years ago. It would be convenient if it worked on 1.25m, because my car has limited real estate for antennas. I could have one antenna that did it all. On the truck, I have 3 antenna mounts, so it's no problem to have one antenna for GMRS/2m/70cm and another one for 1.25m.
  24. You guys are lucky that you have 220 activity. I have four repeaters in my area that I can get into and they are totally devoid of any human life. What a great but wasted band.
  25. Oh, come on, show the man a little sympathy. What he's suffering from is a very common disease. Many years of not using the proper coax can fester strong emotional and cognitive disorders.
  26. Agreed. Strangely my Comet 2X4 also shows acceptable swr readings on 222 mhz. 20 mile simplex @30watts out and 30 miles to my closest 222 mhz. repeater @ 50 footup up with steel mending plates for a ground plane. a usable signal was surprising.
